The San Francisco Giants bolstered their lineup Monday, acquiring outfielder Melky Cabrera from the Kansas City Royals for hard-throwing lefthander Jonathan Sanchez and a minor-leaguer.Cabrera should provide the Giants with an offensive spark. The veteran outfielder batted a career-best .305 with 18 home runs, 87 RBIs and 44 doubles in his only season with the Royals.Sanchez fell out of favor in San Francisco after missing the final month of the season with a sprained ankle. The 28-year-old finished 4-7 with a 4.26 ERA in 23 starts with the Giants in 2011.The Royals also acquired minor-league lefthander Ryan Verdugo, who had a 4.35 ERA in 25 starts with Double-A Richmond.
