What's up with San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum?

The question keeps being asked.

On Sunday, his record slipped to 2-5 after a 6-2 loss to Oakland and his ERA rose to 6.04.

"Throughout this year -- not me personally -- it's been like people are waiting for something bad to

happen," Lincecum said. "They're waiting for that bad inning and wondering when it's going to pop up. It's

just a matter of being confident in my stuff throughout the game and making better pitches."

That inning on Sunday was the fourth. He was charged with four runs and got knocked into at the plate by

Collin Cowgill. Lincecum threw a pitch past catcher Buster Posey and covered the plate, waiting for Posey's

throw. Cowgill came charging down the line, and Lincecum got hit in the chin and rolled over.

Lincecum finished the inning and called it a day.

It's a shame for Lincecum because he had given up one hit in the first three innings, all scoreless.

He threw 90 pitches, and Bochy said that was the reason he came out -- he exited in the bottom of the

fourth for a pinch-hitter. Not the fact that Lincecum hyperextended his left thumb.

Lincecum wasn't blaming anything on a physical ailment and said he has no issues mentally, though

manager Bruce Bochy said, "I'm thinking it's more mental, a lack of concentration."

Lincecum countered by saying, "I've been pretty focused throughout the whole game. It's just a matter of

executing pitches. They're making me pay for those mistakes."

Which brings us to the same old question: What's up with Tim Lincecum?
