Matt Cain has no idea how he’ll handle the dead time of being on the 15-day disabled list which is understandable.
The Giants Opening Day starter was placed on the injured list for the first time in his nine-year major league career Friday a day after he suffered a bruised forearm when he was struck by a line drive.
Cain said his arm was feeling a bit better Friday but that doesn’t ease the sting of being sidelined.
“I take pride being able to go out and take the ball every fifth day” he said. “Not being able to do that it will definitely be a different situation to watch somebody else start for you.”
But Cain also said he understood the Giants’ decision.
“It probably would have been pushing it to make my next start anyway” he said. “Without any (off) days it would kind of be putting the team in a bind as well.”
