The San Francisco Giants' $6 million contract with slugger Michael Morse was made official on Monday when Morse passed his physical. According to CSN Bay Area's Andrew Baggarly, the team is now faced with the necessity of freeing up a spot on the 40-man roster to facilitate the addition.With Morse tentatively pegged to spend most of his time in left field and at first base, Brett Pill's days in San Francisco would appear to be numbered. The 29-year old Pill, who is out of options, is now blocked at both positions by Morse, and as Baggarly points out the Giants already have a logjam of backup infielders in Nick Noonan, Tony Abreu, Joaquin Arias and Ehire Adrianza.It's not clear yet what the Giants would seek in return for Pill, who has a career slash line of .233/.279/.404 in 111 games over the course of his three-year career.
