Found June 26, 2013 on BaySportsNet:
It was a good day for the Giants. Mike Kickham pitched better in his second career start, the Giants got some clutch hitting and nobody got injured. The bad news? They still lost. Facing the Dodgers, Mike Kickham gave up six runs, five earned in five and a third innings but showed some big league poise at times. The Giants hit their 9th and 10th home runs of the month, and recorded multiple hits with runners in scoring position.  Trailing 6-3 entering the ninth, the Giants scored twice and put runners on first and second with no outs before Paco Rodriguez entered to shut down the Giants and give the Dodgers a series win. The ninth inning proved to be a nail bitter for both the Dodgers and Giants. With Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen unavailable to close, former closer Brandon League entered looking to nail down the save. Pence led off with a single and took second on defensive indifference. Brandon Belt followed with a run scoring double and Andres Torres followed him with an RBI singl...

Has Yasiel Puig moved further away from the plate in his batting setup?

The Yasiel Puig experience has been quite a ride for the Dodgers and their fans, and Mike Petriello already said part of what I wanted to say about the ups and downs of his debut thus far (primarily ups). However, I did want to focus on the part of the equation that focuses on his recent trend of striking out on soft stuff away. To be clear, any criticism of him at this point is...

Ramon Hernandez Released

The Dodgers have released catcher Ramon Hernandez. Hernandez had been designated for assignment on June 14 to clear a roster spot for A.J. Ellis. Hernandez, was originally acquired in a trade on April 6 for Aaron Harang. Hernandez, 37,  saw only 55 plate appearances for Los Angeles, batting .208/.291/.438. Embarrassing. This trade bothered me when it went down, now I am just...

SF Giants transactions: Sandoval returns, Gaudin to disabled list

Monday was turbulent day in Giants-dom. Not only did Giants fans get to experience Puig-mania for the first time, but the roster got a complete overhaul. Pablo Sandoval returned from a foot injury that kept him out for the better part of three weeks, going 2-4 in last night’s loss to Los Angeles. To make room on the roster, infielder Nick Noonan was sent down to Triple-A Fresno...

Despite Brandon League, The Los Angeles Dodgers Win Fourth In A Row

Not even Brandon League was able to mess up the win for the Los Angeles Dodgers who have all the sudden won four in a row for the first time since last year’s six game streak from September 26th to October 1st. The latest was a 6-5 win at the expense of a struggling San Francisco Giants team Tuesday night as Matt Kemp made his return from the disabled list. A back and forth game...

Joc Pederson to represent Dodgers at 2013 Futures Game in July

Joc Pederson will represent the Dodgers at the 2013 Futures Game on the Sunday before the All-Star game. The 21-year-old is doing some good things in the Southern League. He's not hitting as well as he was earlier this season, but he's still posting respectable numbers: .296/.383/.500, 11 home runs, 34 RBI, 53 runs scored and 21 stolen bases (in 24 attempts). Every...

Dodgers rumors: Los Angeles seeking upgrade at 3B

The Los Angeles Dodgers find themselves in the basement of the ultra-competitive National League West. Still, Los Angeles is determined to upgrade its roster, according to Jim Bowden of ESPN, specifically at starting pitcher and third base. Dodgers determined to up-grade 3B and pitching over next five weeks — JIM BOWDEN (@JimBowdenESPNxm) June 25, 2013 When it comes...

Matt Kemp Makes Game-Ending Catch to Preserve Dodgers Win, High Fives Center Field Wall (Video)

On first inspection, Matt Kemp‘s catch on Tuesday night to preserve the Dodgers 6-5 win over the Giants may not look so spectacular. However, it’s a well-known fact, especially among center fielders, that the most difficult catch is on a ball hit directly over your head. So, Kemp’s catch is actually among the best you’ll see all year. With the Dodgers leading the Giants by...

Angel Pagan Expected Miss The Rest Of Regular Season After Hamstring Surgery

Bad news for the defending World Series champion San Francisco Giants, as outfielder Angel Pagan is expected to miss up to 12 weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a torn hamstring tendon. Originally Pagan was expected to be sidelined for 6 weeks, but skipper Bruce Bochy delivered the bad news on Monday. Pagan is pretty much an afterthought now as far as the regular season...

Struggling Giants Lose Pagan for 10-12 Weeks

Ouch. In more ways than one…just ouch. In a week that has suddenly taken on apocalyptic overtones, the Giants have lost three out of four to a historically awful Marlins team, lost the series opener with their hated rival Dodgers, dropped to the .500 mark, and learned that they’ll be without their starting center fielder for roughly three months. Other than that, the Giants...

Dodgers' 1st-rounder Chris Anderson impressive in pro debut for the Loons

Chris Anderson made quite the statement with his professional debut on Tuesday night. It’s the smallest of sample sizes, but his debut should fill Dodger fans with optimism. Anderson, the Dodgers’ first-round draft pick in 2013, struck out the side in his first inning of work. He did so on just 10 pitches, nine of which were strikes. That’s impressive in its own...

Down On The Farm: Week Of June 10 & 17 – Buss, Stripling, Garcia, Seager, Farmer, Chigbogu, Rodriguez

There’s no Julio Urias appearance this week, but some other quality prospects made the list, including Ross Stripling. Also, the two of the Dodgers’ short-season leagues began play last week (Pioneer and Arizona Rookie League). —– Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes (5-2 & 4-4) Player Of The Week – 6/10 Matt Wallach – C .409/.519/.682/1.201, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 4 R, 5 BB, 3 K...

Giants' Lincecum comes up short against Kershaw

The San Francisco Giants are in fourth place in a tight NL West race a year after winning their second World Series title in four years. The only team trailing them in the standings is the Los Angeles Dodgers, who completed a sweep of the Giants at home for the first time since April 2009. Clayton Kershaw outpitched Tim Lincecum in the seventh regular-season matchup between the...

Dodgers look to keep rolling against rival Giants

On Monday night the Dodgers opened up a three-game series against the 2nd place San Francisco Giants. The Dodgers won game one and got a four game winning streak going. Dodgers vs Giants tickets are still available and at some of the lowest in years.  Currently, the average price for the three games is just $41 (43% below the home average price for Dodgers tickets). Here...

Phillies-Dodgers Preview

The Los Angeles Dodgers have to like their chances of extending their longest win streak of the season with Zack Greinke on the mound. The Dodgers, who are 5-0 when Greinke starts at home, expect to have Matt Kemp back in the lineup for Thursday night's opener of a four-game set with the Philadelphia Phillies. Los Angeles starters have posted a 1.83 ERA during a five-game win...
