Unless, the Yankees and Rangers are willing to pay a lot of his salary, the Giants don't have enough money. Zito will get a $7M raise next year, so he'll make $17M. Also they must pay Morris will $10M, Durham $7M, Roberts $7M, and Winn $5M. Most importantly, they must ink Cain and Lincecum to long-term deals ASAP. But the real question, why would the Yanks part with the most dominant offensive player in baseball? Because he likes to tan in Central Park and hang out with strippers? Please.

Your right. No team wants to pick up this contract.

A-Rod will contemplate leaving, but in the end money will keep him in pinstripes long enough to see the "New" House that Ruth Built open up.....

Personally, I think A-Rod will return to the Yankees...but I also think he will opt out of his contract, become a free agent, and then sign a new deal with the Yankees...just to make them sweat. Then again, let's take a look at the Yankees "in limbo" for next season: Joe Torre, contract expires, Mariano Rivera, contract expires, Jorge Posada, contract expires, and A-Rod, potential free-agent. Which means if A-Rod likes playing for Torre, they better sign him up first...because if they don't, then A-Rob will opt out and become a free agent. I heard them talking on ESPN today about A-Rod going to the Giants. Okay, let's think about this...since Bonds has been making the big bucks, the Giants haven't done anything -- because they've been financially hamstrung by paying for a circus act to play in leftfield every other day/night. So, you dump all this money on Barry Zito, and you think sinking another 45% of your annual payroll in another single player is going to help your team in the long run? The answer is no, here. Sorry Giants fans, but like the #1 post says, focus on signing Cain and Lincecum (later on) to extensions first. Lincecum is much further from being arbitration-eligible, so there's more time there...but still something to keep in mind. I'd try and keep the hot corner occupied for the next 3-4 years, until a kid named Angel Villalona...a 16 yr. old man-child who will be playing in SS ball very soon after spending most of the summer in the Giants Arizona complex. He's a beast...and it's not worth it, trying to bring A-Rod in there for the time being.

I just can't believe Dave Roberts makes $7 million per. Apparently stealing a base in the 2004 postseaon and hitting .250 for the Padres goes a long way.

Big Mistake, ARod needs to go back to a no-name team and show off in front of his less-capable teammates.
