The Boston Red Sox (74-53) haven’t been to AT&T Park since 2010 and back then, they took two of three games from the San Francisco Giants (55-68). This series marks the fourth time these two teams have faced each other and the Giants are now 3-7 all-time against the Red Sox after being shut out 7-0. Giants starter, Tim Lincecum (6-13, 4.53 ERA), started the first inning strong but by the second, everything unraveled for the former two-time Cy-Young winner. Walks, a catcher interference call, and a balk plagued Lincecum as he allowed three runs over four hits in the second inning alone. He managed to minimize the damage in the third and fourth innings, as the Red Sox couldn’t score with runners in scoring position. Overall, Lincecum threw for five innings, allowing five earned runs on nine hits and four walks (two intentional) with four strikeouts, resulting in his 13th loss this season. He also allowed Red Sox, Daniel Nava, to score on a balk in the second inning marking the si...

Ryan Dempster Hits A-Rod, Then A-Rod Homers And Curses Dempster Out (GIFs)

The Boston Red Sox Ryan Dempster did what almost every one wants to do to the New York Yankees Alex Rodriguez. In the top of the second inning  he drilled him with a fastball because A-Rod is you know, a huge douchebag.  This caused all sorts of fireworks during tonight’s Yankees/Redsox game.  Dempster missed with the first fastball, which went behind A-Rod.  The next two pitches...

SF Giants Rumors: Russ Springer Regrets Hitting Barry Bonds

Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports says former Houston Astros reliever Russ Springer admitted that he intentionally hit San Francisco Giants star Barry Bonds while he immersed in a steroid scandal while attempting to break Hank Aaron‘s Home Run Record in 2006.   It was in the top of the 5th inning when Springer felt the need to use the baseball as a weapon and throw...

Shane Victorino Explains Crucial Eighth-Inning Decision, Says He Had No Intention of Letting Fly Ball Drop

Shane Victorino had a decision to make in the eighth inning of Tuesday’s game. A lot went on in his head in a short amount of time. Junichi Tazawa entered in the eighth with the Red Sox leading 2-1, and he yielded back-to-back singles to Marco Scutaro and Brandon Belt to set up runners at the corners with one out. Buster Posey then lifted a fly ball in foul territory down the right...

Buchholz Watch: Day 73 - Clay throws simulated game

The Guru Contributing Writer It appears Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz could be, maybe, fingers crossed, ready to pitch in an actual game with real bats, balls and players. Buchholz threw a four-inning, 46 pitch simulated game at AT&T Park Tuesday and reported no aches, pains, strains or sniffles. After the session, Buchholz said, "It's obviously taken a lot longer...

Xander Bogaerts Makes First Major League Start, Mike Carp Bats Cleanup for Red Sox in San Francisco

Xander Bogaerts‘ day has arrived. A day after being called up to the majors for the first time, the 20-year-old will make his Red Sox debut Tuesday night in San Francisco. Though he has spent the last few months honing his trade at third base, Bogaerts will start at shortstop, his natural position, as Boston looks keep rolling after routing the Giants 7-0 in the series opener....

MLB suspends Ryan Dempster 5 games for hitting A-Rod

Major League Baseball let Boston Red Sox pitcher Ryan Dempster know they'll handle Alex Rodriguez's punishment on their own with no need for vigilante acts suspending Dempster five games for intentionally hitting the New York Yankees slugger Sunday night. Sox Beat Giants, As They Should

The Red Sox basically beat the snot out of the Giants in the series finale today. Before you plan the parade, remember the Giants are tied for last in their division and 14 games under .500, so a sweep would have been nice. Last night’s debacle sits squarely on the shoulders of John Farrell and his inept use of the bullpen. This afternoon, a strong start by Felix Doubront and...

Giants top Red Sox 3-2 on very questionable walk-off walk

When a team such as the Giants is "dying for a win" as Marco Scutaro put it it cannot quibble about the method. When the Giants beat the Red Sox 3-2 at China Basin on Tuesday night on Scutaro's two-out bases-loaded walk in the ninth the crowd was silent because everyone thought the pitch was a strike. Scutaro did not immediately jog to first. Roger Kieschnick was just...

Dana's private TUF 18 screening

Boston was a busy town last week. Between a Red Sox vs. Yankees home series, a preseason home opener for the Patriots against the Buccaneers, the Republican National Committee in town (sharing the same hotel as the UFC, no less), and of course, UFC Fight Nigh t , there was certainly plenty to see. However, one particular event required a very special VIP pass: Dana White's private...

Red Sox fan makes brutal error on Alex Rodriguez sign

Just a quick tip if you’re going to bring a sign to a sporting event to insult someone, make sure that everything is spelled correctly and grammatically correct.  Nothing will tell the general public how dumb you are faster than putting periods after each letter of the word “to” and confusing “loser” with “looser.”  Stay in school, you guys.
