Bush League Chronicle:
What is better than baseball and beer?Well, for this Seattle Mariners fan, the only thing better is to combine the two together. On Wednesday, the fan did just that after catching a foul ball in his beer cup and subsequently chugging the contents of the cup like there was no tomorrow. There's nothing like a little peer pressure, excitement, and the spotlight to spark someone from downing an alcoholic beverage in such hast. As for the actual game, the lowly Houston Astros put a damper on the good times by handing the host Mariners an 8-3 defeat.Via Eye on Baseball

Aces and closers aplenty
Before the regular season we took a look at the best positional prospects in the Mariners farm system. Today we take a look at Seattle’s crown jewel: the pitching prospects.
It’s well known that the M’s have three of the best pitching prospects in baseball. That trio has been dubbed “the big three,” and consists of starters James Paxton, Taijuan...
Does Mariners-Astros not sound like a great matchup? The rosters may not have a lot to offer, but boy, the fans can bring a show.
A fan made up for the many empty seats around him Wednesday night by using the old beer-cup-catch on a Justin Smoak foul ball. He then completed the moment in perfect form, chugging his sudsy beverage with no regard to what could happen to his fine-looking...
Mariners right fielder Michael Saunders has sprained his right shoulder crashing into the outfield wall to make a catch.
He will be re-examined Thursday and the team says Saunders is expected to miss ''some time.''
Saunders left Wednesday night's game against Houston in the first inning after running down a deep drive hit by leadoff batter Jose Altuve. Saunders...
A Seattle Mariners fan caught a foul ball in his cup of beer and then chugged it down. This guy's nonchalant 8th inning catch with his plastic, beer-filled glove was a little messy but still garnered raves from the announcers, a loud roar of approval from the crowd and high-fives from his buds.
These kind of grab-and-guzzles are becoming pretty commonplace and it's time...

Sometimes life just gets awesome in a hurry. For one lucky Mariners fan, awesomeness arrived like a runaway freight train during an 8-3 drubbing of his...
Newly acquired right-hander Aaron Harang is moving into the Seattle Mariners rotation and Blake Beavan is going to the bullpen.
Manager Eric Wedge announced the change on Friday before the Mariners game against the Texas Rangers. Harang will make his first start for Seattle on Tuesday night against Detroit.
Harang threw a 40-pitch bullpen session for Mariners coaches on Friday...
Although we've seen moments like this before, baseball fans have always been the most creative in catching foul balls.
During last night's Seattle Mariners/Houston Astros game, one fan caught a foul ball off the bat of Seattle's Justin Smoak in his beer and decided to finish off his brew that help scored him a souvenir:

In a game that took three hours and 36 minutes we saw rookie M's pitcher Brandon Maurer get knocked around early tonight and the Mariners could never recover.
The Astros' 22 hits tied for the sixth most in club history.
A small comeback was underway in the bottom of the 9th. The M's sent 8 batters up and put up four runs but it was just to much to come back from...
Mixed-league roto owners, looking for a waiver-wire pitcher before Friday's full slate of games?
Here's my free-agent choice (citing most 12-team leagues) for one day of fantasy stardom:
Hisashi Iwakuma, Mariners (vs. Rangers)
1. In two starts this season, spanning 14 innings, Iwakuma has a 2.57 ERA, 0.43 WHIP and letter-perfect K-BB rate of 100.
2. Of his 32 career appearances...
Hot News for OF Mike Morse
Casper Wells claimed by the Blue Jays
The Seattle Mariners tried to get Casper Wells thru MLB waivers and it didn't pan out. The squabbling and struggling Toronto Blue Jays grabbed him today first reported by Peter Gammons.
Jason Bay of course beat him out during Spring Training for an extra outfield spot on the roster...
The injuries are piling up for the Seattle Mariners. Yesterday, Seattle placed Michael Saunders on the disabled list after he made a running catch and slammed into the wall. Saunders suffered a sprained shoulder and will be out at least two weeks. Now, the club says Michael Morse could miss a week with a fractured pinkie.
Morse was hit by a pitch in last night's contest...
Just another day at the ballpark. A fan created some buzz at the Astros-Mariners game on Wednesday after catching a foul ball off the bat of Justin Smoak.
Hats off to the guy for the perfect execution throughout the way. 1) The catch with a beer in his right hand 2) cheering with his buddy 3) raising his $8 beer 4) chugging the rest with his new MLB catch still inside. A thing of beauty.
Mariners to acquire Aaron Harang?
FOX MLB Reporter & senior baseball writer at the MLB Network Ken Rosenthal just tweeted that the M's are close to acquiring pitcher Aaron Harang.
He says the Rockies and the Mariners are working through final details, including approval from commissioner's office.
