Gio Gonzalez has taken to Twitter to refute the controversial Miami New Times article. The article, which was published on Tuesday, is based on records that the Miami New Times reports were obtained from an anti-aging clinic in Miami that allegedly distributed performance-enhancing substances to a number of MLB players. Gonzalez was reportedly among the players whose names appeared in the batch of records, which include patient files, payment records and handwritten notebooks kept by the clinic’s chief, 49-year-old Anthony Bosch. Bosch and his father have been linked to banned substances before, as they were probed by the Drug Enforcement Administration for allegedly providing Manny Ramirez with HCG, a compound often used at the tail end of steroid cycles. Gonzalez, a solid pitcher who enjoyed a breakout campaign in his first season with the Nationals in 2012, denies ever taking any kind of performance-enhancing drugs, and insists he’s never met or spoken with Bosch. Gonzalez went went 21-8 with a 2.89 ERA in 32 starts with Washington last season. Check out Gonzalez’s tweets below.
