Last night Tom Glavine moved one step closer to the history books, winning his career 299th game as the Mets beat the Pirates 6-3. Paul Lo Duca helped Glavine's cause, going two-for-four with four RBIs. Glavine went six innings and allowed three runs before turning the game over to Aaron Heilman and Billy Wagner, who picked up his twenty-third save of the season.
In what appears to be Glavine's final season, winning No. 300 will be the icing on the cake for this future first ballot Hall of Famer. In Glavine's twenty-one year career (he's played for the Mets and the Atlanta Braves), He's been a ten-time All-Star, won two Cy Young Awards, and has five twenty win seasons under his belt.
