Fightin' Marlins:
It was a game for the ages in Queens Monday night as the Marlins had to come back again to defeat the New York Mets 2-1. Mike Stanton hit a game-tying home run (8) in the seventh to send the Marlins into extras. However, it was the extra innings that were crazy to watch.
First, in the tenth inning with two on and one out. Burke Badenhop served up a pitch to Justin Turner and he grounded the ball to Hanley Ramirez. The ball popped off Ramirez’s forearm into the hand of second baseman Omar Infante in which a double play was turned to end the inning. It was a great reaction play but a ball that Ramirez should have taken care of.
The next inning, the Mets replaced Mike O’Connor with Ryota Igarashi. Igarashi had Stanton, Brett Hayes, and Omar Infante due up in the order. Stanton would single and Hayes and Infante would both earn an out.
