Gomes cut, I cut myself

The Reds cut Jonny Gomes. He has an offer to go to Triple-A

"I'm not sure," he said.

Gomes seemed like a semi-lock to make it.

"I'm a little surprised," he said. "I had a good spring. I played left, right. I went to first base with open arms. But it didn't work out. They can't keep everybody."

I guess that means we keep Darnell McDonald and his career sub .400 OPS, who gives a shit if its only 42 ABs the guy sucks. Why on earth would this team want someone who can actually hit what the game is named after. Never to early to start the losing. Someone please inform me on how we go from trying to get Gary Sheffield, who hasn't played the much OF since 2005, because hes a right handed power hitter to dumping the only right handed power hitting outfielder we had in spring training?

Just as I type this I hear some caller on the radio say "We don't have a pitcher that scares anyone."

Adam Rosales was also optioned which makes me think that the Reds don't trust that Gonzales is going to be able to play a full game for a while and want Paul Janish to be a late inning guy.
