ARLINGTON, Texas The Texas Rangers had better luck Sunday against Zack Grienke than they did against Zack Greinke. Greinke pitched the first part of Sunday's game with his last name misspelled on the back of his jersey. The spelling on the back of it was Grienke as he allowed four runs in three innings. Greinke changed jersey between innings and maybe that changed his fortune as he pitched didn't allow another run in his 7 13 innings. Greinke said he didn't notice but wouldn't have objected if the four earned runs went to Grienke. "Yea it would be a good idea to give them to that kid," Greinke said. This isn't the first time Greinke has had a wardrobe malfunction in the majors. Last year when he was pitching for Milwaukee, he played in a game with the wrong name on the front of his jersey. The club had a throwback jersey the next day and Greinke was called on to pinch hit and grabbed the wrong jersey, wearing the throwback jersey instead. He di...

Zack Greinke had last name misspelled on back of jersey (Picture)

Zack Greinke pitched the first several innings of Sunday’s Angels-Rangers game with his last name misspelled on the back of his jersey. As you can see in the screen shot above provided by Mock Session, Greinke’s last name was misspelled “Grienke.” After the mistake was pointed out, the Angels fixed things and Greinke returned with a jersey that had his last name spelled properly...

Nathan coughs up lead to Angels in Game 1

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Torii Hunter hit a two-run double with two outs in the ninth inning, and the Los Angeles Angels boosted their wild-card chances by rallying past the AL West-leading Texas Rangers 5-4 in the opener of a day-night doubleheader Sunday. Hunter's double into the left-center gap came off Joe Nathan (3-5), who blew a save for only the third time in 39 chances...

Rangers lose, A’s clinch postseason spot

Throwing your 21-year-old rookie on the mound for a game you need to win to clinch the division title probably isn’t the best idea.  But considering what other pitchers were available, it probably wasn’t the worst idea either. Martin Perez looked like he was feeling every bit of the pressure in the 1st inning, giving up three hits and a walk.  He was fortunate only two runs...

A.L. Rookie Of The Year Mike Trout In A Diaper

This just goes to show you that nobody, not even an MVP candidate, can escape rookie hazing. Outfielder Mike Trout, who recently became the first MLB rookie with 30 home runs and 40 steals, was forced to don baby gear with the rest of the Angels rookies. Gotta respect Trout and his thick skin while taking a prank like this. The guy is having a better season than any of his veteran...

Derek Holland blames hacker for homophobic tweet

MLB is investigating a homophobic tweet sent from the Twitter account of Rangers pitcher Derek Holland, who says a hacker is to blame. Holland pitched against the Angels on Sunday, and says he was in the dugout when the tweet was sent. He says only his fiancee, Lauren Hicks, has access to the account, and that she did not send the tweet. “It’s obvious it was not me,” Holland...

Rangers' Beltre leaves game with shoulder injury

The Texas Rangers clinched a playoff berth by beating the Los Angeles Angels 8-7 in the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday, but Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre left the game in the seventh inning after aggravating a strained left shoulder. Beltre's shoulder has been a problem for several weeks. He aggravated the injury in Sunday's first game, then hurt it again...

Napoli collects six RBI as Rangers clinch postseason berth

As much as Ryan Dempster hates facing the Angels, I think it’s safe to say Mike Napoli loves it.  He has become an Angel killer since joining the Rangers, and I don’t mind that one bit. Derek Holland owes Napoli a dinner or a bottle of his favorite booze.  Something.  Anything.  His catcher bailed him out of a mess that started early.  Holland allowed four Angels runs on...

Rangers reliever Mike Adams out atleast a week

The bullpen of the Texas Rangers will be a little weaker going forward. Reliever Mike Adams is expected to miss seven to ten days following a diagnosis for thoracic outlet syndrome. While Adams will miss the rest of the season the Rangers remain hopeful that he will return for some of the playoffs. A key member of the Rangers bullpen, Adams is 5-3 with a 3.27 ERA in 61 appearances...

Mike Trout Becomes First Rookie Ever With 30 Home Runs, 40 Stolen Bases

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Angels center fielder Mike Trout has become the first major league rookie ever with 30 home runs and 40 stolen bases. Trout hit his 30th homer Sunday, a two-out solo shot in the seventh inning at Texas off Yu Darvish. The 21-year-old Trout had a leadoff walk to start the game, then quickly got his 48th stolen base. Only two players in the majors have ever had...

Is the Angels rookie MVP worthy?

Mike Adams' Injury Could Cost Him a New Contract With the Rangers

Pitching wins championships. The Boston Red Sox know this. Until they went out and got Curt Schilling to compliment Pedro Martinez, they could not get past the superior pitching team of the New York Yankees. The San Francisco Giants know this as they rode the success of Tim Lincecum, Matt Cain, and Madison Bumgarner to victory in 2010. And the Rangers know this. As losers...

Game Recap 10/1/12: Curtain Call - Angels 8 Mariners 4

Well there we go guys, it was a great season while it lasted but it had to come to an end. I'm not even mad that the A's clinched the Wild Card and knocked the Angels out of the playoffs, I care that absolutely no one gave the Angels a helping hand these last two series. I have newborn hatred for the Mariners, and especially the Rangers. They couldn't even make it...

Playoff scramble: Chaos, confusion are kinda fun

The Texas Rangers are totally set for the playoffs, eager to break out the bats, balls and gloves for really big games. Maybe they should log on to MapQuest, Hotels.com and Travelocity, too. Because with three days left on the schedule, the postseason picture is still impossibly scrambled. An October free-for-fall, with not a single team yet certain of when, who and where it will...

Angels-Mariners Preview

The Los Angeles Angels enter their final series of the regular season clinging to very slim postseason hopes. Even a three-game sweep may not be enough. While trying for another win against Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez, the Angels will be spending plenty of time scoreboard watching Monday night at Safeco Field. Los Angeles (88-71) and Tampa Bay are both three games behind...
