Zack Greinke retired his first 13 batters before finishing with a two-hitter for a win in his fifth straight start and leading the Los Angeles Dodgers over the Colorado Rockies 1-0 on Saturday.
The Dodgers won for the 14th time in 17 games, despite the absence of rookie outfielder Yasiel Puig, who missed his first game since his promotion on June 3 because of a sore left hip. He was removed during each of the previous two games of this series for precautionary reasons.
Greinke (8-2) struck out nine, walked one and got 14 groundball outs while recording his fourth shutout and 13th complete game in 245 career starts. He out-pitched Tyler Chatwood (5-3), who gave up a run in the first inning then nothing the rest of the way.

Last night, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig
attempted to play through the hip injury that caused him to exit Thursday’s contest.
He was able to return to the Dodgers’ starting lineup, but he didn’t make it
past the fourth inning. Puig was removed after four frames, as he told
reporters – including Austin Laymance of MLB.com – that his hip was bothering
Practically overnight, Yasiel Puig has gone from baseball’s favorite phenom to its biggest villain.
During the Dodgers’ recent series with division rival Arizona, pitcher Ian Kennedy said that Puig “plays with arrogance,” while teammate Miguel Montero went a step further, noting that the 22-year-old hasn’t “earned respect” around baseball. And those criticisms of Puig...

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig talked to reporters about not getting into the 2013 All-Star game, and also about staying up way late on Twitter.
Maybe what Yasiel Puig needs right now is a day off. He could
probably use it. His aching left hip â the one he
injured running into a wall July 3 at Colorado â
is still not fully recovered. A little rest probably wouldn't hurt.
Away from all of the excitement and attention directed toward Los Angeles Dodgers rookie outfielder Yasiel Puig, the St. Louis Cardinals have a rookie who has arguably had an even better start to his career.
Cardinals left-handed relief pitcher Kevin Siegrist appeared in his 13th career Major League Baseball game Friday against the Chicago Cubs and finally became like every other...
