Manager Ozzie Guillen says the Miami Marlins' demotion of outfielder Bryan Petersen to Triple-A New Orleans sends a message to several other struggling hitters. Petersen, batting .212, was sent down to make room for outfielder Austin Kearns, who was activated from the disabled list. The front office met for 45 minutes to consider several candidates for demotion before Petersen was chosen, Guillen said. The Marlins also sent left-hander Dan Jennings to New Orleans and recalled right-hander Sandy Rosario. The moves came after the Marlins were swept in their new ballpark for the first time and outscored in three games against Atlanta 21-3. Miami went 0 for 13 with runners in scoring position in the series finale Thursday.

It didn’t take long for newcomer Orlando Hudson to have a heroic moment. The Chicago White Sox and the Toronto Blue Jays were tied 3-3 going into the final frame. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth and Dayan Viciedo on third, Hudson hit a game-winning single into center field and became the series savior. Losing Skid Hits Five

The Miami Marlins lost their fifth straight game on Saturday as their interstate rivals won 13-4.   The Tampa Bay Rays now lead the 2012 Citrus two games to none with four to play.   The skid which has landed Miami in fourth place in the division is reminiscent of the team’s historically bad June in 2011.   On the month, the Marlins are now 2-6 following a May that saw them...

2012 Fantasy Baseball: What To Do With Adam Dunn?

Adam Dunn (credits below) After a horrendous down-year last season, Adam Dunn was written off as “declining,” and his fantasy value took a huge hit. It appeared as though he was headed towards the early decline that most power-hitting unathletic players head towards (steroid-era not included). Some of the more common (and lazy) reasons people came up with were that he couldn’t...

White Sox's Morel suffers setback in rehab

The news on the field Friday wasn't great for the Chicago White Sox, who lost 8-3 at home in an interleague game against the Houston Astros. The news off the field on the injury front was worse, with manager Robin Ventura admitting that there is something more going on with Brent Morel and his back issues, as Morel pulled himself out of Thursday's game with Class AAA Charlotte...
