The Story: Trumbo is eager to get started with his transition to third base.
The Monkey Says: That's great and all, but camp starts in a few weeks and he says he isn't even running yet. The talk about being willing to take thousands of grounders per day doesn't mean a thing if those day...

2012 Los Angeles Angels Catching Depth
By Robert Cunningham - AngelsWin.com Feature Writer
Major league managers, coaches, and scouts always talk about the importance of pitching depth. However, and perhaps just as importantly, catching depth is also critical to a team’s success. The Angels have created a catching corps of Chris Iannetta, Hank Conger, and Bobby Wilson to provide Mike Scioscia with options for the 2012...
Where are they now? Brian Downing
By Brian Waller - AngelsWin.com Feature Writer
If I were to tell you that the Angels once traded for a scrawny catcher who in his first four seasons in Major League Baseball averaged only 6 HR’s and 34 RBI’s while hitting only .251, you would think the Halos re-acquired Jeff Mathis wouldn’t you? As good of a guess as that would have been, you would have been wrong. The Angel...
2012 Player Preview: Maicer Izturis
2011 wasn't Maicer Izturis' greatest season, but it was far from his worst. More important than his production though was that for the first time in a long time, Izturis stayed healthy for an entire season. Can he do it again in 2012? Do the Angels even need him to?
(EDITOR'S NOTE: Due to the early start, not all stat projection systems are available yet,...
Russell Branyan agrees to deal with Yankees
Russell Branyan has agreed to a minor league contract with the New York Yankees and will try to win a bench job as a corner infielder during spring training.
The Yankees announced the deal Wednesday.
Branyan hit .197 with five homers and 14 RBIs in 127 at-bats last season for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Angels, playing first base, third base and designated hitter....
Monkeying around to end the off-season
For all intents and purposes, the Angels off-season is over. Amazingly, I have not once had to resort to one of these random thought pieces in order to content flowing throughout the winter. Turns out that overhauling the front office and then signing the greatest player alive gives us bloggers a lot of material to work with. Who knew? Anyway, I've finally run out of full...
Trade Candidates – AL West Edition
By Bob Owens
Let’s see how I will (un)settle the West.
LA Angels of Anaheim – Peter Bourjos.
Technically not my idea, as John mentioned him as a possibllity a week ago, and there have been rumors that he could goto Washington for some pitching. But the Angels seem to think Mike Trout is ready, and that makes Bourjos trade bait, and attractive trade bait at that.
Oakland...
Angels 1B Trumbo cleared for baseball activities
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Mark Trumbo has been medically cleared to resume baseball activities.
Trumbo had his rookie season curtailed after he suffered a broken bone in his right foot.
The 26-year-old Trumbo batted .254 with 29 home runs and 87 RBIs, but he enters the season without a position after the Angels signed Albert Pujols to a 10-year contract in the offseason.
Yanks Sign Russell Branyan to Minor League Deal
From Dan Martin:The Yankees agreed Wednesday to sign Russell Branyan to a minor-league deal with an invitation to major league spring training.
The move does not impact the team’s chances of adding another lefty bat and it remains in the hunt for Johnny Damon, Hideki Matsui and Raul Ibanez.
But Branyan’s presence could make things more difficult for Eric Chavez because...
Branyan inks Minor League deal with Yankees
Russell Branyan has already proven that he can show off his power at Yankee Stadium, so it seems appropriate that the Yankees will give him a chance to do so while wearing their uniform.
