Hank Steinbrenner touched a nerve with Sox chief operating officer Larry Lucchino with comments to the New York Post, in which he implied strongly that there were Red Sox players on performance-enhancing drugs...

  • This guy reminds me of James Dolan...except he talks a lot more.
  • Yes, the two are very much alike. This is just gonna be the way it is under Boss Jr.. I have a feeling he's never going to shut up.
  • Dolan is a complete idiot. At least Hank listens to his advisers, and baseball people.

Dolan has successfully run the Knicks into the ground. Let's at least give Hank a chance before we put him in the James Dolan catagory.

  • George learned to keep his lips tighter the older he got, I can't wait until this douchebag learns to do the same.
  • I hear ya...like how Sox owners carry themselves better so far compared to this unproven owner...yep yep, nothing like the top guy on the opposing team, especially the NYY, t-talking this early...and George was 100 times the owner this guy will be
  • Hank's a jerk for sure, but he's not entirely wrong. Lucchino called the Yankees "the Evil Empire" for outbidding them on Jose Contreras. Four years later, Lucchino spent more than 100 million on Dice-K.

    What's good for the goose...
  • Lucchino is no rose either, sure, but still prefer Sox owners anyday...yep, SOX have 160mil payroll to NYY 220mil payroll, roughly...hmmm, 8 good/great player difference in salary money...forget the pissing contest on which team has best owner, let the teams just play and hate each other and may the best team win

  • Yeah but Lucchino also has learned to keep his mouth shut a little more. He's declined comment on almost every bullshit comment Steinbrenner Jr. has thrown out about the Red Sox.

I personally would have had quite a bit to say when he hinted that the Sox are probably on roids.
  • a retort I didn't even bother to bring up...thank you bro/fellow Fan...I was keeping it as light as possible with "Some" NYY fans on this topic at work, etc...all Sox fans are well aware of a severe heavy-handed accusation when another owner accuses/or even hints another team of something of this magnitude...I dismissed it as ridiculous, but now you have me thinking...that's the worst kind of "organizational level" Trash-talking: "accusing/hinting multiple Red Sox of using illegal performance enhancers"...Agreed also, Lucchino fiery, but has the higher moral ground over the big man from NY...get ready for a nasty season...and check out that Epstein is a ****, written by a NYY fan word-weaver
  • Hank is a blithering idiot, who send douche-chills up my spine every time he opens his mouth. But the smug, "we're squeaky clean and always have been" attitude emanating from Lucchino and Red Sox Nation in general since the release of the Mitchell Report is oh, so much bullshit.

If the Mitchell Report should have taught us anything, it's that steroids were rampant, probably 20-25 percent of all players, stars and scrubs were using. But if you took the Report as gospel, all you'd gather was that the Sawx were the ONLY team immune from steroids.

    As I said, BS.

Hank certainly shouldn't be making accusations without any proof, but he has a point.
  • agreed Gonzoball...all teams have those "types of players", I know that...The Mitchell report is far from a perfect document...Most up here know that over the years and I'm sure a few Sox Players now, I'm not in the know however, are/were "enhanced", but I have no clue as one fan...my point was basic and saying "have the proof before the accusation/insinuation"...and let's agree here, every year the same exchanges happen between these two teams...it is the best rivalry in sports...both teams are stacked, with Detroit, and it will be another crazy year...I just want teams to play at this point...fun to banter sometimes, but it's so early...and just so you NYY fans know, I am good friends with a few of Yank fans...we get ornery sometimes, but we just have fun when we go to any series up Fenway...I respect what you posted here...very objective...both teams far from perfect
