Of course since we have nothing really to report besides the fact that Josh Thole and Mike Nickeas are down in PSL already here is a little tidbit for us fans who are chomping at the bit.
Former Met Endy Chavez turns 34 today. I was told that Endy at one time made a catch that some call the best catch in post season history. Of course I would agree since I was at the game. The roar of that

ESPN: Mets Farm System Ranked 22nd In MLB
ESPN Insider - Keith Law ranks the Mets’ farm system at 22nd in the majors, albeit ahead of division rivals Philadelphia (No. 25) and Miami (No. 28)
“It’s actually getting better here, but rebuilding a system takes years, and the Mets have really just begun to inject higher-upside talent into the system.”
I’m not sure I agree with this.
In my very...
Josh Lewin is the leading candidate to replace Wayne Hagin in Mets radio booth
According to NY Newsday, Josh Lewin has emerged as the leading candidate to succeed Wayne Hagin alongside Howie Rose in the Mets' radio booth.
Lewin, 43, has called games locally and nationally in several sports, notably for the baseball Rangers. Hagin, whose contract was not renewed, joined Rose in 2008 after Tom McCarthy left to join the Phillies' television broadcast team.
Fan Fest Notes & Thoughts: Alfredo Simon
During Orioles FanFest, pitcher Alfredo Simon spoke with the media for a couple of minutes.
Simon updated everyone on his workouts, status heading into Spring Training, his life this offseason versus what happened to him last year, and outlook for the season.
Here are some quotes and notes I was able to pick up from him.
Concerning his troubles last off-season, versus this winter...
Get To Know Mets Shortstop Prospect Phillip Evans (Exclusive Interview)
I was able to get in a quick Q&A with NY Mets shortstop prospect Phillip Evans the other day, just weeks before he has to get ready to head for Port St. Lucie for the start of Spring Training. The Mets got a steal when they plucked Evans in the 15th round of last years draft. Other teams had been scared off due to a commitment by Evans to attend San Diego State, but just hours...
Why the new CBA may have hindered signing MiLB
When people would fuss about some over-the-hill-journeyman type veteran player signed to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training, many of us would joke who cares sign them like candy. Basically you were paying a percentage of league minimum to see what they have and then could add them to Buffalo for depth. The new collective bargaining agreement maybe effecting how...
The Orioles Rebuilding Plan Keeps Going and Going...
With the trade of Jeremy Guthrie this week, it looks like the Orioles long-term project of rebuilding the organization is one with no end in sight.
As Spring Training opens up in a little more than a week and it’s obvious the team needs - a) pitching, pitching, and more pitching; plus, another big bat.
It looks as if there will be a lot of pitchers in camp, and except for maybe...
Jeremy Guthrie Traded to Colorado
Most fans had the feeling that a move was going to happen with the Orioles right before camp opened up in a few weeks. This morning, pitcher Jeremy Guthrie was traded to the Colorado Rockies for pitchers Jason Hammel and Matt Lindstrom, according to the Baltimore Sun.
He's been rumored in deals for several years, and it finally happened. I figured that Guthrie needed to move...
A Possible Future HOF Available to Mets on the Cheap
Reports indicate that Johnny Damon is looking for a contract in the $5 million dollar range. I doubt he can score that kind of deal this late in the offseason, so maybe the Mets should see if they could swoop in and sign him to an incentive-laden deal.
Where would Damon fit? How about centerfield? Yes, I know the issues with the pop-gun arm, however Damon can still hit (.261/16...
Some Orioles thoughts (Bergesen, more moves, Manny and Camden Yards)
Right-hander Brad Bergesen’s arbitration hearing was scheduled for this morning at 9:30. He was looking for $1.2 million, the Oriolescountered with $800,000.
Orioles to scout Cespedes
It’s known all around baseball that the Miami Marlins are very high on Cuban defector Yoenis Cespedes. He’s scheduled to be in Miami today to meet with team officials and many believe he’ll be offered a contract, one around $60 million over six years. Unfortunately for the Marlins, Cespedes can still only negotiate not agree to a deal as he hasn’t received...

Right-hander Brad Bergesen and the Baltimore Orioles have argued their cases in salary arbitration. Bergesen asked for a raise from $434,000 to $1.2 million during Wednesday's hearing, and the Orioles argued he should be paid $800,000. A decision by arbitrators Robert Herzog, Mark Burstein and Elizabeth Neumeier is expected Thursday.
