ARLINGTON, Texas The good news for Texas left-hander Matt Harrison was that his sore lower back was feeling better Tuesday. Unfortunately it wasn't feeling good enough for Harrison to throw his bullpen, further putting his Thursday start in Seattle in jeopardy. The Rangers are waiting to see how Harrison feels in the next couple of days before deciding what to do. Harrison did play catch Wednesday. "If it keeps improving tomorrow then Thursday looks okay," said Harrison, who has been bothered by the soreness for about two weeks. Harrison has seen a back specialist, who wanted him to work on some stabilization exercises to build strength in the back. If Harrison wasn't able to go, the Rangers have an internal option in Derek Lowe. General manager Jon Daniels said the club would not look to left-hander Robbie Ross for a spot start. The club could also call up a pitcher from Round Rock. "My sense was that if this was September he would definitely go out there and take the hill," general manager Jon Daniels said. "Being that it's April we're probably a little more inclined to be cautious and play it smart. He's such an important part of the rotation and the club. How we're leaning right now is to be cautious and give him a little time."
