Fox Sports Ohio:
Although Johnny Cueto won't be part of the rematch, it might be particularly interesting to see what happens when Matt Garza takes on the Cincinnati Reds at Wrigley Field.
Garza faces the Reds on Tuesday night for the first time since his angry comments toward Cueto following the Chicago Cubs' victory in last month's series finale in Cincinnati.
Garza took exception when Cueto threw a pitch over the head of David DeJesus with a four-run lead in the sixth inning May 26. Cubs manager Dale Sveum thought the high pitch, which drew a warning from plate umpire Bob Davidson, was a response to DeJesus taking his time to get in the batter's box.
Chicago went on to rally for a 5-4, 10-inning win that snapped a six-game losing streak to the Reds (38-26).
"I took total disrespect out of that," Garza told the league's official website. "(DeJesus) has never done anything wrong, he just plays the game the right way. If Cueto has any problem, he can throw at me, and I'll definitely return the favor. I didn't like that one bit. We don't retaliate. We take it game by game. Hopefully, he learns to grow the (heck) up."
Cueto would have been scheduled to start this game, but he won't get the chance to throw at anyone because he landed on the disabled list last week with a strained right shoulder. Reds manager Dusty Baker suggested after the incident that the pair fight it out, though he now insists it's "over."
"I think Johnny got fined for it," Baker said. "So, all we can do is play ball. And whoever wants to do something, it's their prerogative if they want to."
Garza (1-0, 4.03 ERA), though, may be more interested in beating Baker's club after allowing four runs over four innings in that outing. He's 1-2 with a 4.55 ERA in five career starts against the Reds.
This time, Garza hopes to help end Cincinnati's franchise-best 10-game winning streak at Wrigley. He's 6-1 with a 1.93 ERA in his last 11 starts there.
Brandon Phillips, who entered Monday batting .161 versus Chicago (25-36) this season, hit a grand slam and matched a career high with six RBIs in a 6-2 victory.
Joey Votto is 14 for 26 with seven doubles and six RBIs during an eight-game hitting streak at Wrigley, though he's 3 for 13 versus Garza.
Tony Cingrani (2-0, 3.27), a left-hander from Evergreen Park, Ill., will take the place of the injured Cueto and make his third start against the Cubs this year. He allowed six runs and eight hits in 13 innings in the first two, not getting a decision either time.
Since going 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA in his first three starts of the season, Cingrani has a 5.40 ERA in the last three while allowing five home runs.
Alfonso Soriano is 4 for 6 with two homers against Cingrani, and he's batting .324 with three home runs and 10 RBIs in this season series.
Cody Ransom, who also has a home run against Cingrani, has three homers in his last five games overall.
The Cubs, however, have batted .202 while dropping six of eight.

The Cincinnati Reds have made it official, Tony Cingrani will be called-up from Triple-A Louisville to make his first start on Tuesday since being optioned to Louisville on May 18.In his six starts since getting his first call-up on April 18, Cingrani was solid for the Reds, posting a 2-0 record and 3.27 ERA, along with a solid 41/9 strikeout to walk ratio in 33.0 innings of work...
The last week hasn't been so good for Dusty Baker and the Reds and that is reflected in the latest batch of MLB Power Rankings unveiled by ESPN.com on Monday.
Cincinnati fell two spots to number five in this edition after posting a 2-4 record at home against the likes of the Rockies and Cardinals. Sunday's, 11-4, loss was extra painful as the bullpen melted down in extra...
If you saw a video of an 8-year-old squatting 200 pounds, dead lifting about 175 pounds, and pulverizing a punching bag for a minute straight, your first thought probably wasn’t, “Wow, this kid is going to grow up and pitch in the MLB.”
If that was your first thought, then your crazy, but that’s exactly what this video is.
Here’s a short clip of Cincinnati Reds pitcher...

Once one of the hottest young prospects in the game, Chicago Cubs’ Starlin Castro has gone ice-cold through two and a half months of baseball. The career .290 hitter is now posting a .243 batting average, which isn’t even above the league average. His current wRC+ is a dismal 68, way off of his average of 100 per year.
Things have gotten so bad for...
Joey Votto and the Cincinnati Reds have fallen on hard times lately, though that certainly hasn't been the case at Wrigley Field.
The perennial All-Star looks to continue his tear at the Friendly Confines on Monday night when the Reds try to extend their franchise-best winning streak on the Chicago Cubs' home field.
Cincinnati (37-26) will try to get back on track after missing...
Joey Votto didn’t pop up on Monday. Of course he didn’t. It’s not because he didn’t play — he did play, and he batted four times. The first time, he grounded out. He’s human. The second time, he singled on a liner. He’s a talented human. The third time, he flew out. He’s still human. The fourth time, he walked. He’s human, but less so than us. I remember, back in...
Edwin Jackson finally arrives
The 'real' Edwin Jackson showed up for the first time this season, striking out eight while allowing one run, one walk, and four hits in seven innings. More importantly, his fastball averaged 94.78 on the day, much closer to his career avg of 95 mph than the paltry low 93.x mph he had been throwing earlier this year. The velocity bump showed...
Javier Baez had one of the best performances in Florida State League history on Monday, becoming just the second player to ever hit four home runs in a game in a league history. The first was Ryan Harvey of the Daytona Cubs in 2006.

Xavier Paul hit a three-run home run, Joey Votto added a two-run shot and the Cincinnati Reds roughed up Matt Garza and the Chicago Cubs 12-2 on Tuesday night.
Tony Cingrani (3-0), filling in for the injured Johnny Cueto, pitched seven strong innings as Cincinnati extended its franchise-best winning streak at Wrigley Field to 11 games. Cingrani, from Chicago's South Suburbs...
During the offseason, the Chicago Cubs signed reliever Kyuji Fujikawa, who had saved 220 games in Japan since 2007, to a two-year, $9 million contract in hopes that he would help bolster the struggling bullpen. Now, they will have to wait until well into year two after the reliever went down for the season due to a torn UCL in his right elbow. NBC Sports.com's Drew Silvia reports...
I can list many reasons that I am upset with Phillies management in this putrid, lifeless, uninspiring 2013 season. But one thing I do not fault the Phillies for is their decision to non-tender outfielder Nate Schierholtz after the 2012 season. In today's Philadelphia Daily News, Phillies beat writer Ryan...
The NL Central's been pretty good this year. That is, the upper 60% of the division. The Cubs have been demolished by division opponents, going 7-18 against their divisional foes. The fun week that was the two teams, one cup series already feels like it was a month ago after three offensively futile games against the Pirates,

Starlin Castro doesn`t seem to fit the Cubs` new patient philosophy. But is that too simple an explanation?
