Offered outright assignments to Triple-A Nashville, Milwaukee Brewers right-handed reliever and catcher Yorvit Torrealba have refused the offers and will elect to become free agents this offseason. After struggling mightily down the stretch in his 17th season in major league baseball, Hernandez will attempt to join his 11th team, if he doesn't retire in the offseason. As a long reliever in 26 games for the Brewers, the 37-year-old Hernandez finished his time with the Brewers with a 7.68 ERA and a 3-0 record. Torrealba joined the team down the stretch to allow for flexibility in September at the catcher position. In his 12th season, he had just six plate appearances for the Brewers and didn't register a hit in that span. The Brewers will fill one vacant spot on the 40-man roster with right-hander Jesus Sanchez, who was added in light of the moves regarding Hernandez and Torrealba. Sanchez, 25, was 4-1 with a 1.71 ERA in 20 appearances for Triple-A Nashville. Earlier in the season, he was 3-2 with a 1.59 ERA in 32 games at Double-A Huntsville. Follow Ryan Kartje on Twitter.
