Dodgers outfielder Joc Pederson has such brute strength that even his bunt attempts have the power to inflict maximum pain. Home plate umpire David Rackley learned that lesson the hard way on Sunday.

Rackley was working behind the dish in the fifth inning of the series finale between the Dodgers and the Padres when he caught a rogue foul bunt attempt by Pederson right in the oysters.

Here is video of the absolutely ruthless nut shot:

To quote the immortal Austin Powers, “Ouch, baby. Very ouch.”

Rackley was down for about five minutes and had to exit the game, but fortunately was able to walk off under his own power, per the Associated Press. Second base umpire Alfonso Marquez changed his gear and took over home plate duties, and play resumed after a 15-minute delay.

Perhaps Rackley can expect a sympathy card in the mail from Stephen Vogt.
