Busts of Jackie and his Brother Matthew "Mack" Robinson Today baseball honors Jackie Robinson, who 64 years ago broke baseballs color barrier. Jackie was born in Pasadena and even played at Pasadena Community College destroying the record books there, so he’s remembered very fondly here and there are a lot of long time Dodger fans because of that. I myself have always been a fan of Jackie, not just because he was black but because of the skills he showed as a player. At a time where second basemen were usually slick fielding, with moderate bats, the back up 2B at Jackie first all star game had a total of 0 HR’s that year, Jackie came in with some pop and even drove in 124 runs one season. He also backed that up with a great glove, great speed and was a great teammate. Lastly, there’s a cool little video that MLB.com came up with, check it out.
