According to ESPN's Andrew Marchand, a major league GM says he believes there is "no competition" for Oliver Perez, leaving the Mets the clear-cut favorites for Perez. Only one of Scott Boras' mystery teams could prevent Perez from having to settle for the Mets' best offer. The Rangers have been mentioned as a possibility.
Where have we heard that before? I think it's been over a month since the first $30 million dollar offer the Mets made. Since then, the Mets have reportedly raised their offer and still no deal. No other offers have been reported for Perez. Maybe, the guy just doesn't want to play for New York anymore?
