We were told last season, endlessly I must add, that teams cannot win with rookie catchers. We were told many things by this bright man, but that's perhaps the second dumbest thing he ever preached. You must be asking yourself what is the dumbest thing this man told us? Well, that would be his endless preachings about how important catcher's defense is and, in particular, wild pitches plus passed balls per game. This genius argued that Soto's .188 (WP+PB)/G was why the Cubs were winning and that Soto was therefore a GREAT defensive catcher. Kendall, he argued, was worthless because his (WP+PB)/G was .438. In 2008, Soto's number has increased up to .352 while Kendall's has declined to .332. The Cubs therefore cannot win in the postseason. It's actually impossible! The Brewers have a better fielding catcher and are the best team in the history of 2008.. Period. The end. I win. Bye-bye. (dying laughing)
