Cobra Brigade:
Step 1: Where to Stand
Let's start with the constantly argued about subject of where to stand in the batter's box. Some people say to move back in the batter's box if you are facing someone that throws really hard or to move up/back in the box if you are facing someone throwing a lot of breaking balls. I prefer to keep it simple as I think that just confuses people.* Match up your belly button with the middle of home plate and you are good to go. I'll deal with how far you should be from home plate in a few moments.
*In slow pitch softball this is different because you are dealing with the trajectory of the ball as it slowly plummets to the Earth.
Step 2: Put Your Right Foot In.....
As a right handed batter the first thing I want to do is plant my right (back) foot firmly in the box. I recommend making sure that it's secure in the ground but you don't need to start digging a hole to make that happen. Everyone hates the guy who makes the hole in the batter'...
