J.A. Happ & Josh Johnson have been NL lifers and R.A. Dickey is the reigning NL Cy Young award winner. Shane is the only player on the Red Sox who has actually faced all three, particularly Johnson & Dickey who were in his division during his time with the Phillies and has had moderate success against them (.312 lifetime vs Johnson, .263 vs Dickey). He's coming off a solid series against the Yankees, going 5-for-15 and driving in four runs, and he should be able to continue that this weekend. Pitch Around: Jose Bautista He's one of the best power hitters in baseball, especially when he's at home. He's already hit two this season, which is two more than the entire Red Sox roster and he has eight career home runs vs Doubront, Lackey, & Lester in 78 career at-bats. But Bautista is not making it easier for himself as he's already letting out his frustrations with the umpires with this early season candidate for quote of the year: "Sometimes I have trouble more than other players dealing with my production being affected by somebody else’s mediocrity. It’s just the way I am as a person, it’s a tougher pill to swallow for me sometimes.” Good luck getting any calls on the outside corner, Jose. Don't Get Behind: Josh Johnson All eyes will be on the Sunday matinee when RA Dickey takes the mound but do not sleep on Josh Johnson. Sox fans should remember pining over him the past couple of seasons hoping to pluck him away from the Marlins. He was involved in that massive trade that practically sent the entire Marlins team to Toronto. In two career starts vs the Sox, he's 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA & 12 strikeouts. He'll be going against a Red Sox team that will probably be exhausted after traveling north of the border after playing a night game. It's lining up for him to have a good debut in Toronto.   How we see it goin' down The Sox will want to win this series for John Farrell as he makes his return to Toronto. I don't think they'll be feeling so hot after the whole travel after night game as I mentioned earlier but I think the middle of the lineup snaps out of it and starts raking the ball and John Lackey will surprise many on his first start of the year. Sox will take two out of three and come home 4-2 and the buzz around this team will grow even more.
