The A's jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first game, but the Sox quickly fired back and took a 9-3 after the 5th. Mike Napoli and Will Middlebrooks pretty much did all the work, with Napoli driving in 5 and Middlebrooks driving in 3. Napoli getting a bulk of the RBI from by way of a Grand Salami and Middlebrooks hit a homer of his own, but only a 3-run homer. Josh Reddick and Josh Donaldson each drove in a pair on the other side. Andrew Bailey recorded the save in that one, as the Sox walked away with the 9-6 victory. Remember when he could do stuff like that? The Sox got creamed in the second game by the score of 13-0. Brandon Moss and Josh Reddick were big contributors in that one. Moving on. The Sox held on in the final game with a 6-5 victory. The production was spread out among Sox batters as the 'pen almost blew the 6-3 lead. And guess who got the save in that game. Those were the days. This time Laser Show: David Ortiz Papi is hot, and there is nothing stopping him right now. Ortiz brought his average from .313 to .327 in the Seattle series, and collected a pair of home runs, 4 RBI, and 8 total hits. Three more righties going this weekend for the A's and I'm calling for 3 more homers. Pitch Around: Josh Donaldson & all the former Sox Donaldson is on a tear, hitting for average and power, and I have no idea what he looks like. He was shut down in the Pirates series (1-for-9), so the Sox could catch a break. As far as the former Sox in Brandon Moss, Coco Crisp, Jed Lowrie, and Josh Reddick, they will kill the Sox. They always do in some sort of combination. Last time they all had at least one good game in the series, collecting multiple hits. Here are some of their notable career numbers against the Red Sox: Brandon Moss: .577 BA, 3 HR, 11 RBI, 1.659 OPS Josh Reddick: .310 BA, 3 HR, 14 RBI, 4 2B Jed Lowrie: (3 games) .286 BA, 2B, BB, 2 R (not that impressive) Coco Crisp: 3 HR, 14 RBI, 12 SB, 4 2B, 2 3B This is going to be a challenge for Sox' pitching Don't Fall Behind: Bartolo Colon This fat, steroid-filled, old bastard, is pitching well this season. Very well. He shut down the Sox in that 13-0 victory for the A's during their last meeting, and he could very well do it again. We have no idea who will be opposing him on the mound just yet, but we can count on Colon having the advantage.  How we see it goin' down I don't feel good about this series, at all. The Red Sox struggled with a terrible Mariners team, which shouldn't make anyone feel optimistic going into Oakland. Oakland is going to beat down on the Sox, but somehow, the Sox will squeak one out.
