Philip Humber pitched the 21st perfect game in major league history to lift visiting Chicago to a 4-0 victory over Seattle on Saturday.Humber
(1-0) needed only 96 pitches to cut through 27 Mariners. He had
back-to-back six-pitch innings in the fifth and sixth, and he did not
have a three-ball count until Michael Saunders got up 3-0 leading off
the ninth. Humber came back to record the strikeout, his eighth, and
ended the game with his ninth against pinch hitter Brendan Ryan. Catcher
A.J. Pierzynski dropped the final strike but recovered in time to
record the last out.The perfect game was the third in White Sox
history and the first in the majors since Philadelphia’s Roy Halladay
blanked Florida on May 29, 2010. It was also the 18th no-hitter in
