Brandon Phillips went off on a Husky reporter over some things he had written about him a couple of days ago and it was forgotten almost immediately after it happened. That was until the The National Association for the Advancement of Fat Acceptance (this is a real organization) decided to speak on it. The NAAFA is hungry for an apology … and also probably pizza … and meatballs … telling TMZ, “[Brandon's] poor choice of words indicates that he may have missed the fact that verbal aggression and threats are bullying.” NAAFA is also pissed at Baker for “allowing his player to bully a reporter during this press conference. There are no innocent bystanders.” The org. says they’re especially upset because the Reds participate in anti-bullying campaigns — “Putting on an anti-bullying face then allowing the blasting of a reporter’s body-size is not acceptable.” Brandon Phillips Goes off on Reporter from 101ESPN on Vimeo.

Civil rights organization upset with way Reds handled Brandon Phillips tirade

Although Brandon Phillips and beat writer C. Trent Rosecrans have apparently made amends, one civil rights organization is still upset with Phillips, manager Dusty Baker, and the team over the incident, which involved Phillips unleashing a profanity-laced and personal verbal attack on Rosecrans before Wednesday's game. The National Association for the Advancement of Fat Acceptance...

Reds were reportedly interested in signing Edinson Volquez

Volquez said he chose #Dodgers over #Reds, #BlueJays, #Orioles, #Phillies and "a couple more." Said he's willing to start or relieve. — Bill Shaikin (@BillShaikin) August 30, 2013 There was a time in Cincinnati when many thought Edinson Volquez was going to be a star for years to come. This optimism was justified in 2008 when the right-hander posted a 17-6 record...

The whole Brandon Phillips thing

I didn’t hear about this until some 18 hours after it happened. When I did, I took a tour of the Reds blogs to see what reaction was. There was a whole lot of “everyone already knows about this” and “there’s nothing to say that hasn’t already been said.” I, as you may have noticed, have been busy with a life outside of baseball lately, though, and was actually looking...

National writer claims Brandon Phillips isn't only Reds player to rip reporter for criticism

Whether you like the man or not, what Brandon Phillips did before Wednesday's game against the Cardinals is really hard to defend. The Gold Glove second basemen disrupted an interview in the clubhouse and used an expletive-filled, verbal attack on Cincinnati Enquirer beat writer C. Trent Rosecrans after the latter sent out a pair of tweets about Phillips' on-base percentage...

Brandon Phillips’ Outburst Very Unnecessary, Especially Since Reporter Made Valid Argument

Come on, Brandon Phillips. You’re better than that. Phillips is in the midst of another productive season and the Reds still have an outside chance of winning the National League Central. At the very least, Cincinnati should be able to secure one of the NL’s two wild card spots. So can someone explain why Phillips is concerned about a sportswriter pointing out the three-time...

Nicasio hit hard early, Rockies lose to Reds 8-3

Reds 8, Rockies 3. With AP Photos. Juan Nicasio was in trouble right away. He issued a four-pitch walk to Shin-Soo Choo and served up a triple to Brandon Phillips to start a 25-pitch first inning. The right-hander was gone before he could get out of the fifth. ''I don't think he got loose,'' Colorado manager Walt Weiss said. ''He used the first inning...
