TEAMS: Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees
NEW YORK -- Toronto Blue Jays reliever Jason Frasor had just frozen Nick Swisher on a called third strike with the bases loaded to record the second out of the eighth inning and quiet the Yankee Stadium crowd. Frasor appeared to be in position to escape the jam with the score still tied, but, as opponents have said all season, there is little relief in the New York Yankees lineup. So Raul Ibanez followed by drilling a 3-1 pitch into the second deck in right field for a grand slam to give the Yankees a 6-3 victory Monday night. "Swish, I think, kind of tired him out battling him," Russell Martin, who homered earlier, said of Swisher's eight-pitch at-bat against Frasor. "Raul, very clutch. That's just what he's made of." Along with the defeat, the Blue Jays lost slugger Jose Bautista in the top of the eighth, when he injured his left wrist on a swing that resulted in a long foul ball down the left-field line. The Blue Jays announced after the ...

Yankee fans cannot blame Alex Rodriguez
There is no ‘i’ in TEAM.
The New York Yankees were looking to sweep the LA Angels yesterday, but after a hard fought game the Halos beat the Bombers 10-8.
Of course the game went down to the last out, as the Yankees had the bases loaded and Alex Rodriguez couldn’t get the job as he popped up for the final out.
Overall a successful weekend in the Bronx as the Yankees won the...

Open Letter to Brian Cashman: Don't even pick up the phone
Dear Madam or Sir,Once again, the Yankiverse is buzzing over potential trades. Because it's July, we always go through this pointless charade, like the 12 days of Christmas, wondering who we can get. And if we do cut a deal, it's immediately cheered and a year later, lambasted. This year, let's do nothing. That was the policy of perhaps the greatest GM in modern...
Fan Gets Yankees Logo Tattooed Onto Tooth, Can't Decide Between Saving Wife or Derek Jeter (Video)
Some fans are extreme. Other fans take their passion to ridiculous levels. That's the case for one Yankees fan, who claims to be the Bronx Bombers' biggest supporter. His passion includes plenty of merchandise, as well as a tattoo in a rather unusual location. The superfan has a Yankees logo tattooed onto his tooth, something his dentist did as a surprise while he was undergoing...
Yankees' backup left fielders keep coming through
Brett Gardner has appeared in just nine games for the Yankees this season, and none since injuring his right (non-throwing) elbow attempting a diving catch on April 17. As general manager Brian Cashman said Sunday, the Yankees barely have missed the speedy outfielder and lineup pest because of the presence of two aging players whose skill sets won't be confused with Gardner...

Yankeetorial: We can put a golf cart on Mars and find the Higgs Boson, but we can't decipher the mysteries of Brett Gardner and Eduardo Nunez?
I offer two words to summarize the ongoing status of Yankee LF Brett Gardner's problem elbow.Quack. Quack.Good grief, what are they using to analyze it, a divining rod? Who's running the show, the team midwife? Gardner's been crocheting in front of the daytime boob tube since Tax Day, his arm wrapped in tin foil, but when he visits Marcus Welby for a monthly checkup...
Podcast Episode 14: Mid-Season Musings
I put this episode together after the Yankees opened the second half of the 2012 season by taking 2 out of 3 against the Angels. Topics include the aftermath of Robinson Cano's horrible Home Run Derby, disappointing facts about Melky Cabrera, my disdain for Paul O'Neill (Yes, you read that right.) and Darnell McDonald's dred locs. I close things out by talking about my...
Yankees sweep Blue Jays, keep having fun
NEW YORK -- Nick Swisher doesn't usually need much reason to display his enthusiastic energy, it's easy to see why after the latest win for his New York Yankees. The Yankees peppered Toronto Blue Jays starter Ricky Romero for four runs on five hits in the first inning, including a requisite home run, in Wednesday's 6-0 rain-shortened victory at Yankee Stadium. The...
Yankees 6, Blue Jays 1
Jose Bautista was worried his injury was worse.
The star slugger landed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday but was relieved to learn there's no structural damage in his ailing left wrist. He thinks he could return to Toronto's lineup as soon as he's eligible, though manager John Farrell said it's too early to tell.
''The last thing that we want is to push...
A look at Joe DiMaggio (Video)
On the anniversary of Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak we take a look at Joltin' Joe's career.
Joe DiMaggio, nicknamed "Joltin' Joe" and "The Yankee Clipper", played his entire 13-year career for the New York Yankees. He is perhaps best known for his 56-game hitting streak (May 15 – July 16, 1941), a record that still...
