According to Rotowire, ESPN-AM 1000 in Chicago speculated that Jermaine Dye could be available and that the Phillies would be a good fit. Just after the season ended rumors began to circulate that Dye would be available and I made a case for him then, now they have the added incentive of blocking the Phillies from obtaining the slugger.The Mets are said to be lacking a veteran leader and right handed power bat, preferably a corner outfielder. Could there be any better description of the 34 y/o right handed outfielder who is a two time all-star, silver slugger (2006), and gold glove winner (2000). Over a 13 yr career he has a lifetime .276 BA with a .491 slg. pct. This year he played in 154 gms ( including playoffs) and hit .292. World Series Champion and WS MVP in 2005.
