Don't look now, but Jose Iglesias has an 18 game hitting streak and is making his case to be an every day starter. He has 40 hits in 92 at-bats this year which is good for an average of .435, according to ESPN. That's certainly a better hit ratio that Stephen Drew, who has 43 hits in 213 at-bats according to ESPN, or Will Middlebrooks, who has 39 hits in 199 at-bats according to ESPN. Iglesias has also been getting it done defensively. He has only made 2 errors this season, both of them coming at shortstop. It is also worth noting that Iglesias is still considered a rookie, so his name should pop up in the rookie of the year discussions, assuming that he can keep playing like he has. First, lets start with getting him a regular spot in the lineup, but let's face it, that shouldn't be a problem with both Middlebrooks and Drew struggling. I would like to see them both pick it up and create some competition. Iglesias has played a few games at second, but no way he beats out Dustin Pedroia.
