(AP Photo/Elise Amendola) In case someone had been locked in a cave over the past few months, I figured I would fill them in on some stats on John Lackey's recent success on the mound. Most casual fans who haven't payed much attention lately would probably call me a liar, because "John Lackey" and "success" in the same statement sounds outrageous. Yet, it is true. The good people at baseball-refence make it easy to paint the picture clearly that John Lackey is having a career streak. Transformed, skinny, John Lackey has won his last two starts in convincing fashion, and has won 4 of his last 5 starts. This is John's second 2-game winning streak of the season and it isn't nearly as impressive as the first, but it is pretty damn good. Let's take a quick look how it ranks among his career winning streaks. We weren't paying much attention to the first streak, because the Bruins had the floor at the time. Lackey giving up no earned runs in two games was pretty damn impressive. As far as ERA rankings among the streaks, the two 2013 samples rank among the top 3 in his career of win streaks. The K's are impressive too. We saw a career high 12 strikeout game the other night, which blew my mind. Another stat to blow minds is his WHIP. In the most recent streak, it is 1. During the previous streak in May, it was 0.462. Even though John Lackey has a two-game win streak, he hasn't recorded a loss since May 29th. Since then, John Lackey is 3-0 with 3 no-decisions. Since his first win (June 15) since his last loss, Lackey has put up some numbers worth talking about. Here is what his last 4 starts look like on paper: 3-0, 29 IP, 28 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 3 BB, 27 K, 2.17 ERA, & 1.07 OPS Those numbers won't knock your socks off, but pretty impressive from John Lackey, At least the John Lackey we are used to. The most important thing about his performance is the timing. Clay Buchholz is out and Jon Lester has not given the Red Sox his "Ace" material that everyone expected. John Lackey is coming through in the clutch, helping the Red Sox stay atop the AL East. The big question is, can he keep it up? Man, I hope he can.      Strk Start End Games W L GS CG SHO GF SV IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA HBP WP BK Tm 10 2007-07-31 2007-08-11 3 3 0 3 1 1 0 0 23.2 26 5 5 5 13 1 1.90 0 0 0 LAA 11 2004-04-27 2004-05-07 3 3 0 3 1 1 0 0 22.2 13 4 4 5 10 1 1.59 0 1 0 ANA 12 2002-08-27 2002-09-06 3 3 0 3 0 0 0 0 17.2 17 7 7 4 10 2 3.57 1 2 0 ANA 13 2002-08-05 2002-08-16 3 3 0 3 0 0 0 0 19.2 17 8 8 3 17 2 3.66 1 2 1 ANA 14 2013-06-26 2013-07-02 2 2 0 2 0 0 0 0 15.0 14 3 3 1 18 2 1.80 0 0 0 BOS 15 2013-05-19 2013-05-24 2 2 0 2 0 0 0 0 13.0 3 2 0 3 13 0 0.00 1 0 0 BOS 16 2011-08-06 2011-08-12 2 2 0 2 0 0 0 0 12.0 16 7 7 4 8 0 5.25 2 2 0 BOS 17 2010-08-18 2010-08-23 2 2 0 2 0 0 0 0 15.0 16 8 7 2 15 2 4.20 0 0 0 BOS 18 2010-06-11 2010-06-17 2 2 0 2 0 0 0 0 13.0 14 6 5 2 8 0 3.46 2 0 0 BOS 19 2010-05-26 2010-06-01 2 2 0 2 0 0 0 0 12.1 20 6 6 6 5 1 4.38 0 1 0 BOS 20 2010-05-05 2010-05-10 2 2 0 2 0 0 0 0 13.0 10 7 7 5 10 2 4.85 1 0 0 BOS
