Chad Billingsley has battled inconsistency pretty much his entire career. On Friday night, he was given a 5-0 lead in the second inning, but he couldn't hold it, taking the loss as the Los Angeles Dodgers fell 8-5 to the Los Angeles Angels. "They are a very dangerous lineup. I just didn't get the job done today," Billingsley said. It continued an up-and-down pattern for Billingsley, who is 4-6 with a 4.15 ERA on the season. He had wins in Philadelphia and Seattle earlier in June that saw him give up one run in seven innings in each game. Over his last two starts, both losses, he's allowed 11 runs in 11 innings. "We look at the negative with Chad," manager Don Mattingly said. "You get a great game, and a great game, then you get a game where you're like, 'Ugh. What happened?'" Mattingly pointed out that expectations might be too high for Billingsley, a former first-round draft pick who won 16 games in 2008 and was an All-Star in 2009.
