The Indians continued to control their own wild-card destiny Sunday at Progressive Field with a big assist from the Astros. Clinging to a 3-2 lead the Indians scored four runs in the sixth inning to complete a four-game sweep of the Astros with a 9-2 victory at Progressive Field. The Astros who have lost 105 games this season have lost nine straight. The sweep was the Tribe's sixth four-game sweep of the season. The last time the Indians had six four-game sweeps in one season was 1954 when they won 111 games and went to the World Series. The Tribe has swept three four-game series from the White Sox and one each against Oakland Seattle and the Astros. The victory combined with a Texas loss to Kansas City gave the Indians a 1 1/2 game lead over the Rangers for the second wild card spot with six games left in the regular season. Tampa Bay remained in the first wild card spot with a victory over Baltimore. Corey Kluber (10-5 3.61) earned the victory with 5 1/3 rocky innings. He is the third Tribe pitcher to win 10 games this season joining Justin Masterson (14-10) and Ubaldo Jimenez (12-9). Zach McAllister and Scott Kazmir each have nine wins. Asdrubal Cabrera opened the sixth against lefty Erik Bedard (4-12 4.81) with a single past third. Bedard hit Yan Gomes with a pitch and Michael Brantley singled to center for a 4-2 lead. Philip Humber relieved and Mike Aviles advanced the runners with a bunt. Michael Bourn delivered Gomes and Brantley with a stand-up triple down the right field line. It was Bourn's fifth triple of the season.
