CLEVELAND (AP) -- Josh Willingham had four hits and four RBIs, Liam Hendriks finally got his first career win and the Minnesota Twins beat Cleveland 6-4 Wednesday night, dropping the Indians into last place in the AL Central. Hendriks (1-7) pitched six effective innings to get the win in his 18th career start. Glen Perkins worked the ninth for his 14th save. Minnesota's Joe Mauer went 1 for 4 with a walk and had an RBI single taken away when the umpires reversed a call. Cleveland shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera homered, but left in the seventh with a sore right wrist. Mauer hit a sinking liner to left with Jamey Carroll on second base in the eighth. Vinny Rottino made a diving catch, but third base umpire Mike Muchlinski gave a safe sign as Carroll scored. Indians manager Manny Acta argued with Muchlinski, a fill-in ump from the mi...

I love Twitter. I can honestly say it has changed my life. Its my one-stop shop for news, sports, and comedy. The beauty of Twitter is also that you can interact with others who are reading about the same subjects as you are if you so shall please. I think back to late May/early June when my Twitter timeline was FLOODED with Tribe fans asking me how the team could not be bringing...

Kotchmania Runs Wild One More Time At Progressive Field

I’m not going to sit here and tell you that Casey Kotchman is an All-Star caliber player. I’m also not going to tell you that First Base is a position where offense doesn’t matter. But I will tell you that I have an appreciation for the guy that most others don’t. Yesterday afternoon’s series finally with the Minnesota Twins was won by a Kotchman bases loaded RBI single...

Vasquez, Twins aim for sweep of Indians

One bright spot during the Minnesota Twins' dismal season might be how well they've played against the Cleveland Indians. The Twins look to complete a three-game sweep with a sixth consecutive win over the Indians on Thursday at Progressive Field. The only team with a worse record than Minnesota (62-87) in the AL is Cleveland (61-88). That's in part because the Twins...

Cleveland activated Hafner from the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday, and manager Manny Acta put him in the No. 6 slot in the starting lineup against the Minnesota Twins. Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer seems to have launched a stealth campaign for his fourth American League batting title. With Miguel Cabrera trying to hit the Detroit Tigers back to the top of the AL Central and Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout leading the AL Rookie of the Year race, Mauer, a three-time AL batting champ, has sneaked back into the thick of it. "I...

Twins ready to play some meaningful games

For most of the past decade, the Minnesota Twins were playing big games in September. They won six division titles from 2002-10, and when they weren't winning them, they were in the race, even losing a one-game playoff to the Chicago White Sox in 2008. So a second straight losing season has been particularly hard on the guys who were around for the glory years, and with nine...
