Though he may not attract as much attention as some of the game's other top pitchers, Jordan Zimmermann has been as consistent as they come. Zimmermann tries to build on another stellar outing Saturday night as the visiting Washington Nationals face the Cleveland Indians, who appear to be back on track. Among the major league leaders in wins and ERA, Zimmermann (9-3, 2.00 ERA) has allowed two runs or fewer in all but two of 13 starts. The right-hander has gone at least seven innings in 10 of those outings and is holding opponents to a .205 average. "It means I'm pitching pretty well, I'm going deep in the ballgame," he told MLB's official website. "I'm giving the team a chance." Zimmermann had everything working Sunday in a 7-0 win over Minnesota, striking out a season high-tying eight over seven innings of two-hit ball. He showed up wearing a heating pad due to a stiff neck but didn't appear to be hindered at all. "I'm hoping he ...

The Indians could soon have their closer back on the active roster. The Plain Dealer’s Jodie Valade was there as Tribe manager Terry Francona ran down the reports of currently injured players. “He did real well,” Francona said. “He didn’t command great, which I don’t think is a surprise because he hadn’t thrown off the mound much.” He added that Perez likely will...

Indians are happy to be home

The Cleveland Indians may be thrilled to return home. Justin Masterson may be the most relieved. Second Thoughts: The sweet life of Zach and Corey

When the Indians placed Brett Myers on the 60-day DL this week, they also effectively moved the veteran from the “reclamation” pile to the junk pile-- $7 million in dough down the drain for all intents and purposes. Barring a shocking comeback, Myers is this year’s Derek Lowe. And so, for those with a perpetual ax to grind, it’s another fine occasion to either (a) bemoan...

Indians Kluber Washington 2-0

Cleveland, OH — Corey Kluber escaped three no-out jams with no damage and the Cleveland offense provided just enough support, as the Indians beat the Nationals 2-0 to win the three-game series.   After a leadoff single by Anthony Rendon in the fourth, Ryan Zimmerman hit a ball to newly-acquired Indians third baseman John McDonald, who threw a double play ball past second baseman...
