Eli's MLB Rumors:
The Indians have promoted Matt LaPorta, Luis Valbuena, and Josh Barfield from Triple-A Columbus prior to Saturday's game. LaPorta was the key acquisition in the CC Sabathia trade last summer, Valbuena was apart of the Mets-Mariners-Indians trade last offseason, and Barfield came over in the Kevin Kouzmanoff trade from two offseasons ago. LaPorta is hitting .333 with 5 HR in Triple-A, and will compliment lefty Dave Dellucci in the outfield. Valbuena, who is hitting .321 with 3 HR, will serve as a utility infielder.Barfield will provide the Indians with more speed off the bench, as well as a late inning defensive replacement. The Indians overhaul comes after a 9-14 record this season. If they continue to struggle, we may see the Indians trade Cliff Lee or Jhonny Peralta for prospects.
