Francisco Lindor is one step closer to the big leagues. The Cleveland Indians' shortstop prospect will be promoted to Double-A Akron on Monday, after he takes part in the MLB Future's Game on Sunday night. Lindor spent the first half of the season with the Carolina Mudcats, the Indians Class A-Advanced affiliate, where he hit .306 with 27 RBI, 19 doubles, six triples and 20 stolen bases in 83 games. Indians manager Terry Francona, who was asked about Lindor's promotion prior to Saturday's game, said "he's one of the special prospects in all of baseball". "He impacts the game in every aspect he touches," Francona said. "The fact that he's been moved to Double-A is a significant step in his career, and he'll get tested." Drafted in 2011, the first-round pick (No. 8 overall) is accelerating through the minors quickly. He spent the 2012 season with the Indians' Single-A affiliate, the Lake County Captains and was moved up to Carolina after an impressive showing at spring training this year. While Lindor was able to adjust to Class A-Advanced this season with ease, the move to Double-A is said to be much tougher. "I personally thought it was the biggest jump," said Francona of the move to Double-A. "I think you start to see guys that have Major League stuff." Lindor will begin his test at Canal Park on Monday night, where the Aeros will host the Erie SeaWolves.
