The Tigers need to make a big splash at the trade deadline and bringing in a solid second baseman would be a good start.  But Dave Cameron from FanGraphs and ESPN says that the Tigers could bring in Infante along with Anibal Sanchez and… Hanley Ramirez. Detroit would have to give up a hefty price in super-prospect Nick Castellanos, pitcher Jacob Turner and outfielder Delmon Young.  Cameron says that Ramirez could be played in the outfield for the remainder of this season before retaking the shortstop position in 2013. Ramirez is one of the best young players in the game, a career .300 hitter who hits with power and has a lot of speed on the base paths.  He is a natural shortstop, but with the addition of Jose Reyes has moved over to third this season for the Marlins.  With two years left on his six-year $70 million extension he would come at a price, but Delmon Young is making nearly $7 million this season and the Tigers would get a lot more production out of Ramirez. With this dea...

Marlins' Ramirez sidelined with hand infection

An infection on his knuckles could sideline Miami Marlins third baseman Hanley Ramirez for all of this week. Ramirez suffered the injury earlier this month when he punched a cooling fan. He subsequently forgot to take his daily medication, causing an infection to grow in his knuckles."I don’t think I can grab the ball or the bat," Hanley told the Palm Beach Post. "...

However, manager Ozzie Guillen said Ramirez apparently forgot to take an antibiotic this week, causing...

Ozzie Guillen: ‘Baby Hanley’ Ramirez needs to remember to take his medication

A little less than two weeks ago, Hanley Ramirez suffered a very idiotic injury when he punched a cooling fan in the Marlins dugout and cut his hand open. Unfortunately, it was a lapse in judgment that he is still paying for. According to the Palm Beach Post, Ramirez was held out of the lineup on Friday night against Pittsburgh because of an infection he has developed in the same...

Foul ball banks off woman’s head and into her beer cup (Video)

Your browser does not support iframes. Sometimes the best plays fans make on foul balls are the ones they don’t intend to make. We saw a prime example of that at Wrigley Field on Thursday night. Hanley Ramirez sent a ball chopping down the third base line in the second inning and it hopped up into the stands, bounced off a woman’s forehead and landed directly in her beer cup...

Cubs fan bobbles foul ball, which lands in female friend's beer (Video)

A Chicago Cubs fan bobbled a foul ball and watched it bounce off the forehead of his female friend and land right in her full cup of beer during Thursday's game at Wrigley Field against the Florida Marlins. In the top of the second, Marlins batter Hanley Ramirez hit a ground ball foul down the third base side that bounced off the top of the Cubs dugout into the stands. ...

Pittsburgh Sweeps

With Sunday’s 3-0 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates in the books, the Miami Marlins have lost five games in a row.   Miami is now at a season worst seven games under .500 after being swept in Pittsburgh.   Overall on the road trip, the Marlins loss five of six and have nearly taken themselves out of playoff contention in the process. Anibal Sanchez made what may turn out to be...

Could the Crawford for Ramirez trade actually work?

I'm always one to throw out trade offers that will never happen. Last week I asked "Would you trade Jacoby Ellsbury in a package for Justin Upton"? Here's the latest rumor. "Left fielder Carl Crawford to the Miami Marlins for either shortstop Jose Reyes or third baseman Hanley Ramirez, with other pieces and significant cash involved."...

Here's a running list of injury updates around the Major Leagues: – The Washington Nationals placed shortstop Ian Desmond on the 15-day Disabled List with a torn left oblique muscle according to Mark Zuckerman of CSNWashington.com. Keeping pace

The Pirates have won four in a row after stumbling a bit out of the All-Star break, but the team that they're chasing in the NL Central, the Reds, have won three in a row and eight of their last ten. That means that even though they've started this series against the Marlins with two wins, they might need to complete the sweep this afternoon to make sure they don't lose...

Trade rumors: Victorino, Dempster, Sanchez and Brewers

Here's a running list of trade rumors around the Major Leagues: – The Pittsburgh Pirates see outfielder Shane Victorino as a “perfect fit” in their outfield according to Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. But he says that they won't pursue him unless the Phillies drop their asking price “dramatically.” – The Ryan Dempster to the Dodgers seems like...
