It was an extra innings victory for Florida Friday night against Washington. Omar Infante was matched with a play at the plate and he used his left hand to elude catcher Wilson Ramos’s attempted tag. Infante would be safe as Florida won 6-5. Greg Dobbs singled to right field where the ball was met by right fielder Jerry Hairston Jr. Hairston made a great throw that beat Infante to the plate, but Infante proved to be more elusive. Florida got plenty of power. Gaby Sanchez, John Buck, Mike Stanton and, returning from the DL, Logan Morrison all hit home runs. Florida also got some shaky pitching from Chris Volstad who allowed four runs on eight hits in six innings of work that also included seven strikeouts. Mike Dunn also gave up a run. Edward Mujica got his fourth win coming back from a strained left knee ligament. Leo Nunez continued his perfect save season with his 13th save of the year. Florida continues the series with Washington Saturday.
