The Mets released second baseman Luis Castillo on Friday. This has been widely viewed as a move that was long over due for the Mets, and the move will leave them on the hook for the approximate $6MM left on his contract. Castillo immediately becomes a free agent and the Dodgers may have their eye on him already. According to Dylan Hernandez the Dodgers reportedly have no interest in him so far. Personally I don't buy it. The Dodgers have been connected to Castillo numerous times in the past, and once had a deal close that would've exchanged Juan Pierre for Castillo. Regardless the signing would make some sense, especially at the league minimum. Casey Blake is battling injuries already and will likely start the season on the disabled list.
