PhilliesTags: Michael BournPhilliesOn Wednesday night, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reported that the Phillies are “past the tire-kicking stage” in pursuit of free-agent centerfielder Michael Bourn, and the team is now trying to gauge what kind of money it will take bring Bourn back to Philadelphia.
The Phillies currently are without a single proven starting outfielder, and addressing [...](Read more...)
BEST OF MAXIM
As the market for center fielders dwindles, the Seattle Mariners loom as one possibility for Michael Bourn.
At least on the surface.
The Mariners, if they fail to land outfielder Josh Hamilton, are still going to need offense. And Bourn is the next best offensive player remaining on the open market, though certainly not a slugger like Hamilton.
Here’s the problem:
When Chipper Jones came on the scene in 1993, the Atlanta Braves were beginning one of the best runs in the history of Major League Baseball. The Braves had won the past 2 division titles, the first 2 of a storied run of 14-straight division titles. Chipper Jones was part of 12 of them. With the likes of Glavine, Smoltz, Maddux, McGriff, and Justice, Chipper joined a roster of some...

The Phillies have acquired outfielder Ben Revere from the Minnesota Twins for right-handers Vance Worley and Trevor May.

Two seasons and two second-place finishes in the National League East were enough to convince the Atlanta Braves that they want manager Fredi Gonzalez around long-term. The Braves picked up Gonzalez's contract option for 2014, the team announced Wednesday at the winter meetings. "I think he did a terrific job of leading us to the playoffs in 2012," Braves general...
Major League Baseball's winter meetings always bring their fair share of rumors, signings, and significant trades.
This year, the Philadelphia Phillies have been linked to almost every big name player on the market. Their number one need, of course, is a starting centerfielder to take the place of former Phillie Shane Victorino. Victorino just inked a three-year, $39 million...

The Phillies haven't made any news this off-season, but they may be about to become very loud. After completing a deal for Ben Revere, reports have a deal for Michael Young done and awaiting his approval. With center field filled, what would the addition of Young mean for the Phillies?
It's only fitting that a guy with the patriotic last name of Revere would wind up playing in Philadelphia. The Phillies gave up a lot to get Revere, so the expectations will be high for the new center fielder. Here's what to expect from the newest Phillie.
• The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have acquired right-handed pitchers Vance Worley and Trevor May from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for outfielder Ben Revere.
