Is Milwaukee the real deal or just fooling us in April

With April in the books and May well on it's way the Milwaukee Brewers find themselves in a not so familiar position. Early signs of success are however clouded with skepticism. The Brewers last found themselves in the Playoffs in 1982 and since then there hasn't been much to cheer about in Wisconsin. But the Brewers young talents such as J.J. Hardy and Prince Fielder are starting to ignite at the plate. If you add a healthy Ben Sheets and a Jeff Suppan who looks like the 2006 NLCS MVP Jeff Suppan, the Brewers seem to have a nice recipe for success. Although a lead in middle May doesn't carry the same meaning as a lead in late August it's definitely something they can get used too. Now of course with teams in the NL central struggling to find their grove it's easy to place the success for the brewers on the shoulders of neighboring failure. But don't jump to that conclusion just yet. Although Houston finds themselves below five hundred they seem to always have enough in the tank for a late push in August. Plus it would be unjust to throw out the defending champs this early, but with Carpenter undergoing surgery on his throwing elbow its not turning out to be a happy sequel in St. Louis. So the question is, is Milwaukee the real deal or just fooling us with an impressive short run? It might still be early but it's clear that the Milwaukee of late is not the Milwaukee of now. Prince Fielder has taken over the throne in Milwaukee and is leading a team full of future stars. For now Milwaukee finally has something to cheer about and that's what counts most. So enjoy it Milwaukee because we just don't know how long it might last.
