The Texas Rangers were able to edge out the Boston Red Sox in what looked like a home run derby. Both teams were tied at 3 win the 9th inning started and it looked like this game could go into extra innings. The Rangers watched the Red Sox jump out into a 3-0 lead on David Ortiz first inning home run that drove in Dustin Pedroia to make it 2-0 in the 1st. Then in the second inning the Rangers would see the Red Sox hit another home run to make it 3-0. Texas answered back with a couple of home runs of their own. Mitch Moreland hit a solo blast in the 3rd inning and Nelson Cruz hit a 2 run blast in the 6th to tie the game at 3. That was it for all the long balls. The Rangers would get their 20th win, on a Adrian Beltre single in the 9th to drive in Elvis Andrus. The Rangers are now tied for the most wins in Major League Baseball. How long will this hold up?

Yu Darvish is having an unreal sophomore season for the Rangers. In seven starts and 45 2/3 innings, Darvish has a 2.56 ERA, accrued 1.9 fWAR, and has struck out a league-leading 72 hitters. To put in perspective how vast the 15 strikeout difference between Darvish and second-place AJ Burnett is, consider the fact that Burnett could throw a nine inning complete game at his current...
ARLINGTON, Texas Rangers closer Joe Nathan almost had to re-introduce himself to his teammates when he finally returned to the mound Saturday.
Nathan had not pitched since April 26 at Minnesota, but showed no signs of rust with a quick, 1-2-3 ninth inning in the 5-1 win over the Red Sox.
It wasn't a save situation, except in the sense that it saved Nathan from having to wait...
Timing is everything in life. No team in baseball knows that better than the Texas Rangers who are off to a 20-12 start, giving them the second-best record in the American League. Considering their success in recent years, there is no doubt that the Rangers are good, but are they really as good as their record suggests or are they just the beneficiaries of some really good timing...

Craig Gentry had an infield hit that produced two runs and later hit a two-run homer as the Texas Rangers beat the Boston Red Sox 5-1 on Saturday night.
The Rangers broke a 1-1 tie and went ahead to stay on the speedy Gentry's infield hit in the fourth. He added his first homer in the eighth.
Alexi Ogando (3-2) pitched into the seventh inning for his first victory in five starts...
Last offseason, the Texas Rangers lost several key players, including Mike Napoli. Napoli was the starting catcher for the Rangers for 2 seasons. He now is the first baseman for the Boston Red Sox in the American League East. Napoli is off to a hot start, batting .270 with 6 long balls and 31 RBIs. Napoli said that he loved playing with the Rangers and he made some good...

The High-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans plated 11 runs on eight extra-base hits on Saturday evening, getting two doubles and a homer from Trever Adams. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's minor league action in the Texas Rangers' system.
With one game left in the series with the Texas Rangers, the Red Sox are in some hot water. Two games down, they’ve already lost the series, and they’re at risk of being swept. Luckily for the Sox, there isn’t too much to lose as far as the standings go. But they’re in danger of losing morale.
Losing this afternoon would give the Rangers a shot at holding the title for best...

I guess you could say it was a "good game", if you are a Rangers fan. The Sox went up 3-0 on Yu Darvish through the first two innings, then allowed 3 un-answered runs and played into the 9th in a 3-3 tie. Clayton Mortensen came in...
The Red Sox have dropped the first two games in a three-game series with the Texas Rangers, and the Rangers have held the typically powerful Boston offense to just one run in two games.
The Rangers have had their way with the Sox thus far, but third baseman Will Middlebrooks is confident his team will be able to get back in their groove on Sunday and close out the series with a...
Well that certainly was not how anyone in the Red Sox organization wanted the series in Texas to go. The Sox dropped all 3 games to the Rangers, who now have allowed St. Louis and Texas to tie them with the best record in the major leagues at 20-11. Starting pitching was not the problem in the last 2 games of this series, the lack of run support was. Here are the 3 stars of the game...

Love it when a baseball games ends with the final at bat. It happened twice this Sunday.
First in Arlington, Texas where the Rangers Adrian Beltre was a hero.
The 4-3 Texas win gave the Rangers a weekend sweep of the American East leading Boston Red Sox.
Meanwhile hundreds of miles north in Kansas City the surprising Royals waited until the...
