When Daisuke Matsuzaka was first posted, I wanted the Mets to win the bid for him. A few years ago I proposed a trade of down-on-their luck pitchers, with the Mets sending Oliver Perez to Boston for Matsuzaka. When they finally picked him off the scrap heap, I was generally in favor of the move. But enough is enough. There’s no reason to subject either the fans or the other Mets players to another outing by Matsuzaka. In three starts with the Mets, the one-time star has allowed 15 ER in 12.1 IP and the aesthetics of his starts are 100 times worse. Keeping him around annoys the fan base, doesn’t thrill his fielders and kills the bullpen. It’s hard to imagine the Mets giving Matsuzaka another start. They recently went dumpster diving again, this time to pick up Aaron Harang, who if memory serves they were interested in this past offseason..
