TEAMS: Washington Nationals, New York Mets
In a post to Twitter yesterday, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports said C Ivan Rodriguez is working out, and could be a possibility for both the Mets and the Rays.
In 21 big league season, the 40-year-old Rodriguez has hit .296 with 311 home runs and 1332 RBI with the Rangers, Marlins, Nationals, Tigers, Yankees and Astros. He appeared in 44 games with the Nationals in 2011 and hit .218 with two home runs and 19 RBI in 124 at bats.
Michael Baron: Given the question marks surrounding the return of Ronny Paulino, I wouldn’t be opposed to Sandy looking at Pudge as an option. His value might be highest as a mentor for Josh Thole; and his leadership and experience might also have a positive effect on the entire team. I don’t know how much he has left in the tank, and so the Mets might need to carry three catchers on the roster should they bring Pudge on board.
Brian Erni: As the Mets begin to put together their role players for next year, I wouldn’t be surprised to keep hearing...

Torres needs a RHB caddy...
This is not a bash Andres Torres post, there seem to be plenty of those going around since the trade. Ramon Ramirez makes the trade a win in my opinion but after watching Pagan defensively last season, an upgrade in center field works for me. Sure Pagan is a better career hitter but how much of his offense is off-set by his horrible play in the field last year.So based on the little...
Mets are considering whether to trade Bobby Parnell
According a major league source, ”The Mets were debating Wednesday whether to trade Bobby Parnell to an unspecified team for a starting position player,” ESPN’s Adam Rubin wrote to his blog.
Matthew Cerrone: I would trade Parnell. I think he has a world of talent – and maybe it’s because he hasn’t been pitching his entire life, just since college...
MMO Fan Shot: My Tribute To Jose Reyes
I still remember the day Jose Reyes began his Mets career. June 10, 2003. It was my 20th birthday. Reyes was 19, one day shy of turning 20 himself. He was the first major leaguer I ever saw who was born after me. This would become part of his lure to me and my younger brother, as we would always finish off his list of accomplishments with “dude, he’s younger than me!...
Jon Garland Fits The Alderson Mold
It’s no secret the Mets have been penny pinching this offseason. Between the slew of minimal contracts we’ve offered and the lack of any offer to Jose Reyes, it is evident that Sandy Alderson and the front office are examining the bargain bin rather than the premium shelf to construct this team for 2012.
Despite this, the team is still in dire need of multiple positions – mainly...

Bobby Valentine Talks Yankees...Sorta
As if the Yankees/Red Sox rivalry needed any life injected into it, former Mets manager Bobby Valentine has wasted no time letting everyone now where he stands. When asked to discuss the rivalry at the winter meetings this week, Valentine replied:“No, I hate the Yankees. I don’t want to waste this valuable time talking about the Yankees. This is too valuable,”While the two...
Rodney Dangerfield Got No Respect? Gil Hodges Overlooked For Hall Of Fame (Again)
What has seemed to be an event every few years, once again Dodger and Mets (Manager) great Gil Hodges is denied election into the National Baseball Hall Of Fame. On Monday (December 5th) the Golden Era Committee announced that Hodges did not receive the required votes. The Committee votes on players no longer on the ballot who played between 1947 and 1972. Cubs 3B Ron Santo did finally gain
