Found January 04, 2013 on Brewers Bar:
Veteran right-handed starting pitcher Javier Vazquez has indicated he has some interest in pitching again in 2013 after sitting out, semi-retired, during 2012.  The Washington Nationals reportedly have interest, but only on a minor-league deal.  The Boston Red Sox also may have some interest.  Vasquez wants to play for a contender, and in the past has indicated he prefers to pitch near the East Coast, so that the Puerto Rico native would be closer to home.  Vazquez will throw for teams Friday in Puerto Rico.  If he would be willing to come to Milwaukee (which, admittedly, is in the north-central United States) and if the contract and salary hurdles could be cleared (no chance in hell?), I think he would be an excellent addition to the Brewers pitching staff for a number of reasons.  Let me preface this by saying I do not believe, really in any way, that Vazquez will end up with the Brewers.  I merely think he’d be a good fit.  Vazquez has been around the block...

Report: Javier Vazquez ‘Impressive’ in Winter League Tune-Up with Red Sox Scouts Watching

Javier Vazquez could be the best signing of the winter

When looking at the free agent pitchers left on the market, the pickings are slim for teams still in need of a starter. Aside from Kyle Lohse and Shaun Marcum, there really aren't any pitchers left that could slide in as a third starter for a contender, unless you're a believe in Joe Saunders or the health of Daisuke Matsuzaka. However, one name is popping up on the radar...

Suddenly, Brewers look strong in bullpen

The Milwaukee Brewers wasted little time letting it be known the performance by last year's bullpen was intolerable. Brewers relievers posted a major league-worst 4.66 ERA in 2012, and general manager Doug Melvin acted swiftly in showing the door to seven players who pitched a combined 353 13 innings. Gone are Jose Veras, Francisco Rodriguez, Tim Dillard, Kameron Loe, Manny...
