Dodgers Locker:
33-year old lefty swinging outfielder Jay Gibbons is trying to fight his way back to the big leagues after being named on the Mitchell Report a couple of years ago. It almost appears as if Gibbons was blackballed for a couple of years but he’s trying to make up for lost time now. Gibbons has played in 39 games in AAA-ball this year and he is 57 for 152 (.375 avg, 1.055 OPS) with 29 runs scored, 6 homers and 41 RBIs. He has only walked 6 times which makes the fact that he has only whiffed 12 times even more eye popping. Gibbons last played in the majors in 2007 with the Orioles. He has played in 779 games in his major league career and he is 724 of 2,787 (.260 avg, .768 OPS) with 348 runs scored, 121 homers and 405 RBIs. If Gibbons keeps hitting like he is right now the Dodgers will likely give him another chance at the show later this year.
